Our passion for producing real Neapolitan pizza requires not just a deep knowledge of the process but also the commitment to swap modern technology that would make the production easier and cheaper, for the time honoured way of manual hand-skill, taking up to five days to produce our dough.

We do not use chemicals, colours, additives or preservatives common in so much ‘prepared’ and ‘fast food’ on offer today.

Traditional pizza has now become lost to the commercialised ‘plastic cheese-wheels’ that use cheaper ingredients and faster methods.

Our pizzaioli artistically prepares each pizza to order, by hand. Our wood-fired oven takes four hours daily to reach optimal cooking temperatures in excess of 800 degrees, where pizzas are fully cooked in an unbelievable 90 seconds or less!

It may be fast, but one bite and you’ll know it’s anything but fast food. Come try us for yourself. Eating is all about taste.

Really average pizza with even less than average service. I hope the owner/s understand that friendly customer service is just as important as the food. We certainly won’t be going back and won’t be recommending it to anyone, anytime soon.

Actually, we would rate our 2 pizzas tonight, the Margherita Extra and Palermo as the worst pizzas ever – they win 0 stars as they were that tasteless! The pizzas didn’t look anything like the photo on the website as hardly any buffalo mozzarella or toppings were evident – in fact both pizzas looked similar, even though one was described to me as the ‘meat lover’s pizza’. We can only imagine the the guy who went all the way to Italy to learn how to make pizza, was off tonight!

I am a chef and have been cooking for 7 or so years. i started my career making pizza. after going to dantes pizzeria i was ashamed of the pizzas i used to make in fact i couldnt even call them pizza anymore more like a pie with no lid. my 1st experience at dantes was absolutly amazing. I was greeted by friendly and welcoming staff, i ordered the queen margherita and was advised to take a piece straight from the box and eat it at the counter, now a tradition every time i go there. i was even shown the correct way to eat pizza, yes believe it or not there is a special way to fold the pizza before eating it. you will not find any better pizza in new zealand and that is a promise. real pizza, real topping, real woodfire, friendly staff, clean and fresh looking kitchen. well impressed

Sono di Napoli e percio’ so come una pizza debba sapere e credetemi, stasera ne ho provata una quasi perfetta in “Dante’s Pizzeria”!

I’m Italian, Neapolitan actually, and I know what a pizza should taste like. The pizzas are amazing: the quality of the ingredients is exactly the same you find in Italy (pretty much impossible to find the same products here in NZ!), the Pizzaiolo (the Pizza-chef) was trained/worked for a while in Naples, and the fact that the pizzas are wood-fired, makes them even better and more authentic!!!

Trust me you won’t regret it!

Having lived in Naples for a year – I know what real pizza tastes like! Dante’s Pizzeria is incredibly authentic – the *only* place I have found in New Zealand that makes true Neapolitan Pizza.

The drive from central Auckland is actually quite short and so worth it. Dante’s brings Napoli to Auckland! The pizza itself is to die for…

What can I say …….Well for starters they (Dante’s) have re-written the book on pizza. I was unsure what was in store. I had heard so much talk about how good Dante’s were. On arrival I was told to try the Margherita Extra and eat it straight from the box at the counter..! So not to disappoint them, I did just that. On opening the box is was hit buy an amazing smell, and the style was so different to what I was expecting. After the first slice I was dribbling lol the pizza crust was unbelievable and the flavor…. heaven. I will be a regular that is a given well done guys. And if you got this far reading. Then what you waiting for. Lol

This was well worth the drive from Oratia to Kumeu – quite simply the pizzas were ‘superb’. Good choice, fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection and served with a friendly smile! Would highly recommend to all… not your average pizza…
