Authentic Japanese donburi “rice bowl” food.
I have spent twenty years in Japan and this is definitely the place I go to get my Japanese food fix.
For Japanese food beginners, I recommend the chicken katsu or teriyaki varieties.
I personally love to eat Katsu don (Egg katsu–crumbed pork cutlet).
Affordable and great lunch menu from $ 9.90!
Highly recommended.

Really love this place . The owners Meg and Ken are great. Always smiling and happy. The food is delicious and fulling . Its a very clean and well presented little restaurant. The wait staff are awesome. Highly recommend this place , have been a few times now and the owners already know my name.

I was really impressed with the customer service when I went to Donburi-Ya with my 2 children tonight. Staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was great. They were thoughful about the childrens meals eg offering to ommit or put the dressing on the side for the childrens dishes. We all enjoyed our meals and even my daughter commented on their friendliness.

Newest Japanese restaurant in Hamilton and we found it almost by mistake. WOW is all I can say. Having been to japan a few times it is like walking into a small cafe in Tokyo. Warm welcome, small and cosy, and GREAT FOOD. It is what most Japanese would call home cooking or comfort food and it is wonderful. They even have Japanese beers. The owners are both native Japanese that are now “kiwis” and here to stay and are behind the counter and in the kitchen. For a truly Japanese experience it is a must stop. Definitely going back and telling all my friends.
