I’ve been here a few times, purely for dining – and find the food quality and presentation is great. Also very moderately priced ($10-$20 lunchtime?). . . .

The selection’s not great though. . . .

And the highlight for me – the most magnificent cutlery I’ve ever seen anywhere! Honest, I HATE dirty knives, and forks with bent prongs, or maybe too small to fit my hand.

This is easily the worst restaurant food in Dunedin (excluding some of the suspect Chinese hovels). The food is reasonably priced but would need to be. The quality of the meat used is substandard and usually badly cooked. This is a shame as a few years ago it had two of the best meals in town on its menu – the pork fillet was perfect – now it is badly cooked steak or hogget rack (they call it lamb – but it must have been one VERY stressed little sheep). Get the cheese toastie – you wont feel so bad about leaving it half eaten on your plate!
