The Mrs and I felt hungry, and besides our low expectations we were still selling short our low expectations. The total dining experience was SH.T. Poor, slow, unprofessional service backed up by solid crap on a plate!! Thanks Dux de SUX!!

The outside patio is great to meet for some beers with friends but what is the draw with the food? Everything we have tried has been almost inedible. When people come into town and want to meet for drinks at the Dux, I always suggest somewhere else. Don’t get me started on the inept waitstaff.

As I live and work in the city I unfortunately drink and dine at the Dux often. Every time, without fail, the service is slow, rude and slovenly, the glassware filthy and the food leaves a lot to be desired. My most recent visit was appalling – the staff were more concerned with socialising than doing their job, and when we complained the response was shocking. The Dux is only good for the under 25 drinking crowd. Anyone else – try the Coffee House across the road, they’ll blow you away with the outstanding service and food.

Great beer. Food usually good – depends who’s in the kitchen. Service generally slovenly lazy rude people. They take ages to clear tables. 2 stars for good beer and good location. Otherwise it sucks.

PLEASE BE WARNED. DO NOT GO to this place. We went there for lunch on Monday and encountered the rudest cashier on the entire planet. Having taken our order, the waiter informed us later that the dishes were not available. When we tried to pay the difference for the new dish we had chosen, we were yelled at by the cashier. She the proceeded to yell at us for not paying for our drinks (which we had indeed payed for). When corrected by the waiter, this person did not utter a word of apology but kept snarling. She seemed to be treating the other patrons and her colleagues with a similar degree of aggression. If you don’t want a traumatic experience with the most ill-mannered and angry individual outside of maximum security prison, PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE.

A year ago I had a bad experience at The Dux de Lux with being served a gluten free salad full of croutons. When I indicated this to the waiter he simply picked the croutons out. I put this bad experience behind me and decided to give them a second chance.
Last week my friend and I went for lunch. We ordered drinks and mains, my friend had a beer so got hers on the spot, I ordered a smoothie that was to be dairy free with ice instead of yogurt. After 20 minutes of waiting for my smoothie, I enquired how far the drinks would be. The waitress rudely answered “I wrote it down!” and walked away. Our meals arrived 10 minutes later but still no smoothie. 10 minutes later the “Dairy free smoothies” arrived, with yogurt in it! When I questioned the taste and obvious presence of yogurt in the drink the waitress denied it having any diary in it. I advised them that I was not happy with being supplied with drinks after the meal and the incorrect drink; they gave me a refund but no apology. For someone with special dietary requirements I definitely wouldn’t’t recommend dining here, also wouldn’t’t recommend it if you wanted good customer service.
