East Street Cafe Bar sets itself apart by being the only vegetarian café in Nelson. Our focus is to provide affordable quality food to cater for the growing number of people that are vegetarian, vegan and gluten intolerant.
However we have as many repeat customers, local and backpackers, that purely come for to enjoy our fantastic food and atmosphere. Extra effort goes into sourcing local goods and producing the components that make up our menu from scratch. For example we make our own burger patties, hummus, mayonnaise etc.
The food, service and environment all complement each other in being professional whilst homely and caring at the same time.

100mtres from Trafalgar St tucked away in the underground of a backpacker’s, with a sunny courtyard adds to the freshness of a new Café in Nelson. The punters like the fact it’s right in town, slightly off the main drag and there are always new people to meet.
