Oh, it wasn’t THAT bad! Not wanting to whiplash your scoring, I’ll give it just 3 stars though others at my table claimed to be having 4 stars of a time. We went to hear the Friday night band — an excellent lounge trio — which we all enjoyed very much. My cappuccino and dessert were good enough for fine listening. Others ordered blue cod and seafood chowder. The cod was described as “lovely,” while the chowders were “interesting” with large mussels in shells dropped into chunky vegetable soup. They said it tasted better than it looked. So that was good enough, too.

Shame only one star is the lowest you can rate. We gave EAT a second chance after a terrible experience nearly 6 months ago.

When you have to ask for the feta in your chicken and feta pasta, it is not a good start. Then when your main plates have been cleared, you are still hungry waiting for the desert menu. All the while the wait staff have rolled up the mat and started sweeping the floor with 3 tables of clients left in the restaurant! We finally ask, and wow kitchen closed. No opportunity for EAT to make extra dollars on dessert or even coffee.

It will have to take something special for me to stop telling everyone, that EAT is nothing special.

I don’t know why I decided to go back and give this place another try. Turned up for breakfast, there was only one other table in there (having only coffee) and we had to wait to be seated and given menus. Once we finally got menus and ordered my coffee took ages to come, turned up cold and without the coffee syrup that I requested. The pancakes were burnt, the large size had definately changed from two good sized pancakes to one medium size pancake, the small was definately that – very small! When going up to pay I questioned if they had charged me for the coffee syrup, which they had I said I wasn’t going to pay for it – this was after tellling them about my coffee being rubbish and being told “I’ll be back over to fix it shortly”, and yip, nobody came back to fix it! I am not going to go back and line these people’s pockets as they don’t seem to want to put the customer first, they can’t even give average service!

A group of friends and I had all had bad experiences prior, but thought a year on it was worth another try for dinner.
The dinner menu was not available, and we had a small hand written menu available, or lunch/breakfast menu only. Staff were not attentive with drink re-ordering. Meals were ok. The jazz group was nice, but finished early, and was closely followed by staff vacuuming. No-one eating there looked impressed – and from previous visits this was not the first time they had done this! Also cleared table while others still eating, despite us pointing this out to wait staff. Unimpressed, unlikely to return.

Nice service, great band on a Friday night, terrible and I mean terrible food.Reheated crap in a microwave and trying to charge $27.50 isn’t going to cut it anywhere. The other meal we got was mediocre too. It’s a real shame as the decor and ambiance of this place is really good.My other bad experience was I got two bloody Mary’s, the first two tasted 1 nipper’s, which they were when I asked the waitress, the third one was barely a 2ND nipper. When I paid I got charged $13.50 for each one which were all single nips, ripped off……Definitly not going back, don’t expect good food, very deceiving…

Average sums it up perfectly. Nothing memorable or remarkable about our experience here.

I really like how both Natasha and Gaye have written their reviews from a managers perspective, its almost as though they both work for Eat on Windsor. Personally I have to disagree with both Natasha an Gaye, as this restaurant seems to have a real lack of service standards. I dont know who is working in the kitchen, but it is obvious to me that they are not proffesional chefs.

I have dined here on several occasions and found the menu and service both excellent. I love the setting as well and stylish decor. Heading there again today with friends from further North.

The service is sometimes friendly but certainley not helpful when wishing to deviate slightly off the menu for allergy reasons. Our breakfast there was awful..toast was swimming in tomatoes and all in all it just looked like a big mess slapped on the plate. We all left food on our plates!

Eat is a wonderful, light, airy, contemporary cafe. The food is high quality and the service is friendly. A great venue if you are looking for a quick coffee or want to enjoy a meal with a glass of wine. Also has parking spaces around the back which is great if you are in a hurry. Highly recommend this cafe.
