Have been to EAT four times and I absolutely can’t recommend it enough. Have tried the bacon and eggs, the blue cheese pie, and some other FILO thing. It is like a work of art. So
Much so that i always photograph the plate before I eat. The selection of salad greens and different flavours on the plate means you get a different yet amazing taste with every bite.
It sounds like I have shares in this place but I only wish I did. The small details like right down to the teaspoons they use and the cups and saucers. Enjoy. I do.

This is our favourite eatery in Dunedin. We first met up with the young couple when they owned a cafe in Karitane and loved it – took many people there and were so disappointed when they left but when we discovered they had taken over Eat we were delighted. They truly care and love food and this presents itself in their menu, breads and all such other yummies.
The service is always exceptional, their salads always surprise you with little treasures and their brioches/breads etc are exceptional.
This couple are such hard workers and I am glad that their business is proving successful – it should be – the foods awesome.
Get along to Eat and spread the word

Love EAT – we travel to Dunedin on a regular basis and always head to EAT – sometimes the coffee is ‘hit and miss’ but the food is consistent – the chef cares about food!
Will be eating there tomorrow…

After hearing friends rave about the food at Eat (“it’s likeart man, delicious edible art”) three of us went to try it out. One was only intending on getting a coffee but web he heard that there was a kikorangi blue cheese and mushroom pie on the menu he swiftly rediscovered his appetite. The staff are super friendly and the coffee arrived speedily – all of them were good too: neither over extracted or suffering from over heated milk.
The meals themselves were presented beautifully – the pancakes were light and fluffy, the bacon was delectable, the salads were interesting and so tasty, and the pie was a slice of cheesy heaven. Average cost of a meal sits close to $20 including a coffee.
Cannot recommend enough. Come and Eat!

The decor is trendy and spacious…
Coffee is exceptional…
The filo pies are tasty, seasoned well and extremely fulling. It was also appealing and interesting to see such a colorful tasty side salad-strawberries, grapes, feta….mmmmm…
Cheese rolls are Moorish-gourmet cheeses served in a home made baguette with pesto on the side. A gourmet take on an old South Island classic.
The staff are friendly, helpful and knew the menu well when I asked a question or two about the fillings.
Recommend to all, I will be going back again..and again…
I recommend to all.

Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by friendly staff. The restaurant was well-lit, clean and we were directed to a nice upstairs seating area for brunch in the sun and privacy.
Our coffees came out quickly and were nice. We shared a cheese roll, which even though its’ a simple food, they made it gourmet.
Partner ordered the french toast which came as a surprise – decorated with mesclun salad, grapes, mandarins, beans and maple syrup/yoghurt/pesto side sauces. The presentation was amazing and tasted great as well! I had the bacon and eggs which again was well presented, but didn’t match my taste-buds (as the bacon was honey-cured).
The meal costed around $46 which is expensive for brunch, but its’ a must try once restaurant. Although behind the counter were freshly baked goods that looked delicious – that we may go there again.
