Note that the Eating House is no longer operating from 21 October 2011. Pity.

I have eaten here several times and have always had a good meal. Last time we ate here we started with a pizza to share between 4 of us. It was delicious. The crust was thin and crispy just as it should be and the topping was tasty. My husband had fish for a main with a cauliflower puree which he enjoyed and I had pork fillet and asparagus with a delicious side of mushrooms. We found the service very efficient and friendly. We would definitely return.

We visited EH for the first time for a light dinner last week. Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating; what our waiter lacked in knowledge he made up with enthusiasm. We ordered Bluff oysters fresh and battered, linguine with mussels, and for dessert: generous servings of tiramisu, gelati and sorbet. She and I enjoyed the experience very much and look forward to returning.

My husband and I went for dinner last night. The service was friendly and efficient, the food was okay.
For mains he had the pork – which at $30 seemed a bit over riced for a porkchop and some coleslow. I had the gnocchi which was good, but not a touch on Fratelli’s.
Dessert was crepes and bread and butter pudding which again were fine, but nothing to write home about.
We had a GrabOne voucher which reduced the bill was great – because at $90 for two mains, two desserts and a glass of wine there are definitely other restaurants in Wellington where I’d recommend for the same kind of spend (Fratelli’s and Plum to name a couple)

I went to the eating house last Thursday. Walking in we got a lovely warm welcoming feeling about it. We were seated and had some beautiful starters; delicious mozzarella cheese and breads. The service was very attentive our glasses were never empty. The meals were all extremely tasty, especially the spinach and ricotta crepes(divine!) the mussel and linguine pasta with chili was also perfect. To top it off the creme brule was as good as it gets. I will definitely go again, and so will my friends.

went there for dinner with my girlfriend. upon arrival we were asked if we wanted water, said yes, the waitress then asked still or carbonated? we said still, and they brought out a bottle of NZ spring water.. when we left to pay, they charged us $9 for the bottle of water. we felt it was very misleading to charge us for something that is standard. the waitress did not give us a option for tap water. besides that the food was average. my chicken parm was’nt bad, but it left something to be desired. my Gf’s spinach and ricotta crepes were drowned in cheese on top and you couldn’t taste anything else. overall, felt it was overpriced and pretentious for the food that you got.

The food is really, really good and tasty, but fairly expensive and the service was lacking.
Me and my mum and my toddler went there for lunch on a Wednesday.
We used to enjoy La Bella Italiana that was there and this place is similar in food and style.
Its was a pity about the service. We waited ages and I had a screaming hungry toddler. It would of been better if the waiter/ waitress paid more attention to us. There wasn’t a whole lot people there during lunch time either and my mum was just on an hours lunch. She was late back.
My food was perfect though. I had ‘ricotta and spinach crepes’ and they were light and tasty. But it was $20 just for that.
To be honest, it was really too expensive just for lunch with poor service. We were lucky we had GrabOne vouchers. I don’t think we will go back in a hurry.

I have had three meals there, two very good. Food was lovely – shellfish pasta dish and a caesar salad, great service, reasonable price. The third time I chose lambs brains, they were deep fried and I thought that and whatever they were floating in dominated the flavour. But good gnocchi. I will go again.
