Eightthirty Coffee Roasters are not so much a cafe, but a Coffee Roastery. You can pop in for a takeaway coffee & choose from ‘a pretty sweet selection of counter food mid week’.

There’s a leaner with a few bar stools for those who wish to hang about for a a bit. So drop by the roastery and check them out.

For Eightthirty, there are lots of little environmentally friendly things they like to do – like use organic milk and ethically grown coffees. Eight thirty Coffee Roasters, compost all their old coffee grinds & food waste.
However there are a few other particularly responsible practices to be proud of: Firstly, their certified compostable takeaway cups (both the cups and lids break down into organic components within months, so are harmless if they accidentally find their way into the ‘great outdoors’ of Auckland.

Secondly, Eightthirty is big on low carbon emissions. Using the ACE carbon calculator, they have worked out the amount of carbon emissions they need to offset in order to qualify as a truly ‘sustainable’ business. But they went a step further, and they doubled that number. As they say on their own website: “So in essence we’re reducing CO2 in the atmosphere just by continuing to do what we do. If every business did this we’d really start seeing some progress on climate change!”
