Elements is located in an historic site that once housed the library, post office and butchery that were a centre for the local community in Lyall Bay. In a casual relaxed atmosphere we continue that tradition by being a place to meet, talk, eat and drink. The once divided shops are now a 75 seat café just a short hop from town.
As the owners since 2004 we have a vision of creating a place in the suburbs were you can get food, wine and service with the same standards of the city but without the hassles.
Our food philosophy is the use of the best seasonal and local produce available. Our food is honest and approachable with our focus being on delivering food that simply tastes good!

I came in for a trim latte and 2 fluffies.
This might be considered by some as nit-picking but having worked as a barista previously I have very high coffee standards. When I’m charged $5.00 for a coffee and $2 per fluffy I expect a properly made cup.
I watched as the milk was prepared and then the best froth given to my children’s fluffies. Then, the next milk lot was poured into another customers cup (who came in after me!) and I was given the “leftover”. Any barista worth their weight knows the poorest milk is the last. And that was my cup. Which ended up a Flat White, not a Latte. Unforgivable for a cafe IMO.
Maranui, Queen Sally and Elements are equidistant from my house. I regularly choose Queen Sally as the barista there knows how to make a decent cup of coffee and not short-shrift his regulars.
I thought I’d try Elements for a change but I won’t do this again. The only thing positive I can say is their coffee blend is “good”.
$9 value? How would you feel?
Oh, and my kids (who have almost no standards) complained their fluffies were cold.

And I enjoyed the lamb pie I had recently .
Nice and relaxed atmosphere.
Looking forward to trying out the evening menu at some stage.

The correspondence I had with the staff in organising the dinner we always helpful and the evening itself was a great success. Everyone commented on the excellent food and friendly, professional service even when the 30 of us kept changing places!
I cannot recommend Elements highly enough, it was perfect.

The problem I have here is the steak. I eat my steak blue, and the chefs don’t seem to be able to cook steak blue the first time.
Steak #1 came out rare – sent it back, came out perfectly the second time.
Steak #2, I told the waiter to make sure it still moved when I stuck a fork into it. The steak came out, I stuck my fork in it and sighed – overcooked, probably medium. Before I could cut it though, the waiter came out and told me he had been informed that it wasn’t blue – and offered to replace it before I could take a bite. Gave me a free beer too. The second blue steak was perfect.
The lemongrass panna cotta was oversweet, though this may be my palate. Couldn’t finish it.
Awesome menu, awesome food. Wait staff were full of humour and seriously awesome service.
Tread with caution if you eat blue steak though. That’s all.
always leave feeling had a feed, but not bloated.

Will not return!!!!!

Whilst the decor is nothing specical the food was excellent and the wine list is very well priced with a good selection of little known bottles to tempt you, as well as interesting wines available by the glass.
The prices are reasonable and reflect the quality of the food.
All in all well worth a visit.

They were Definitely not happy when we asked for a bread plate for our 2 year old to share our food – sorry guys but if you have NO kids menu he has to share ours..not a winner for us either.
Won’t be back in a hurry no matter how good the food maybe, I expect better.
