Decent enough for coffee but still a wee-bit on the average size, especially for how well this place is regarded and how popular it is. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not nearly as bad as Olive, Plum, or Eis, but i’m not sure if it’s worthy of its reputation as such an institution. Staff are fairly friendly and coffee is of a decent calibre, but it isn’t People’s ;) Worth a try.

We went on a busy Saturday night with a large group.

The drinks list is extensive and has something for everyone. The food options were well priced and had lot to chose from. Everyone was happy with their choices.

The only disappointment was dessert. The toffee on the top of my creme brulee was so thick that it was almost impossible to break through and the brulee underneath overdone. My husband’s chocolate fondant, while nice, was a minutely sized serving and vastly overpriced at $16.

The service was friendly and reasonably prompt given the size of our group.

My wife and I had a wonderful lunch here towards the end of last year. Our waiter was welcoming, friendly and above all enthusiastic – amongst the very best I have encountered in the hospitality industry. We could see the young chefs working away in the open kitchen and they too were obviously very happy in their work. The “feel good” factor also extended to the food – the steak I had was absolutely delicious. We will certainly be back next time we are in Wellington.

This place is cool … good coffee, great New Zealand beer selection, tasty food.
A couple of minor issues. My partner thinks that the big mirror makes her look fat … NOT GOOD. Also there was a humming, I think from the kitchen that gave me a head ache. Other wise friendly staff & quality dining

I only had a coffee here but I can honestly say it was the best coffee I’ve ever had. The interior décor is so cool and the service was excellent. Go there often!

I was very impressed with the atmosphere at Ernestos cafe. The food was delicious, the steamed mussels were to die for. The service was exceptional and we will definately return.

The food and coffee here is usually very good. Not sure what happened today, though – my berry smoothie was absolutely tasteless (I left it unfinished) and our food was dry. The music was blasting so loudly that we had to ask to have it turned down just to be heard.
