Situated in the center of Cromwell’s mall, Feast offers top quality, modern cuisine in a relaxed local setting. Whether an intimate meal for two or a gathering of the clan, this 45-seat restaurant is right for every occasion. During the summer months outdoor seating is available and there is a private courtyard for you to enjoy alfresco dining during the long summer evenings.

Feast’s wide-ranging menu satisfies all tastes. It includes delicious local specialties such as lamb, rabbit and hare, complemented by an impressive wine list of Central Otago’s best. While firm favorites, such as pork belly, scallops and pasta retain a place in the line-up year round, the menu changes regularly maximising each season’s best fresh produce.

Feast has achieved the National 2010 & 2011 Beef + Lamb Award of Excellence. Feast also drew first equal in the 2011 Central Otago Lamb awards out of 17 restaurants from Queenstown, Wanaka and Cromwell.

What a nice restaurant this is! A high standard of food, pleasant, professional service and a clean, modern setting.

I opted for a garlic ciabatta with hummus, followed by a generous and tasty pizza and wasn’t disappointed. The menu as a whole looks impressive with surely every taste in food covered. I wasn’t drinking but the wine list provided a great selection with an understandable emphasis on the local product. A good range of bottled beers, too.

Cromwell is well served by reasonable pub-type restaurants and there are some classy fine dining choices within a few kilometres of the town centre, but for anyone who wants a good standard of fine dining experience without leaving Cromwell’s town area, Feast should satisfy.

I’ve been privileged to have eaten in some of the best places in the world in my long and fortunate life. The main course here was fair enough, but what irked me about Feast was the meringue dessert and their attitude. I specifically asked the maitre d’ before ordering if it was chewy (i do like chewy meringue). The response was “what meringue is not chewy?”, so I ordered only to discover that the specific unchewy meringue was theirs. In the spirit that any feedback is good feedback, I pointed this out to the maitre d’, whose sole response was “oh, crispy was it?”.
I was not impressed.

You’re hard pressed to find anything worthy in terms of food in Cromwell, and many of the vendors seem to have developed a Queenstown attitude towards pricing of food … considering the quality of the food in Cromwell, the prices are horrific!

There are very few decent eat-in or takeaway places in this small junction of a town, but thankfully, Feast does much to dispel my previous misgivings about ever eating in this place.

The decor and furniture is modern and classy. The place is clean and well presented, often with good almost alternative mellow music playing in the background.

Feast has a range of food, with a selection of pizzas and pastas as well. All of which are actually pretty bloody decent … and not just for Cromwell either.

It is one of the few places in Central Otago where I can actually feel like I am back in the North Island and there’s not a single cheese roll in sight! This might not appeal to everyone but those who want a more speights oriented experience can go just about anywhere else. It is nice to have a place that appreciates good food, good dining experience and not too over-burdened prices (although would be expensive by Wellington standards, as would most places here).

Easily recommended as a great place to eat for dinner.

Tucked away in a premises which looks as glum as Cromwell Mall itself, Feast is a fabulously happy surprise. Menu wasn’t overburdened with choices – often a good thing really – but the variety offered certainly adequate. Delightful mains, cleverly presented, flavours perfect, quality ahead of quantity were served with a smile and enthusiasm. Desserts to die for followed, again quality was the best we have experienced in a long time. Diners felt valued and were more than satisfied, thankful to have foregone the temptations of entrées. Definitely recommended.

What a lovely restaurant in the heart of Cromwell. We ate yummy scallops(a huge leap of faith this far in from the coast) salivated over rabbit loin and venison entrees and gorged ourselves on a choccy pud. The new chef here is getting it 10 out of 10 for fresh and tasty and we drank a lovely local pinot from the Lochaburn Vineyard. We will be back.

I took my husband to Feast for his birthday. Our experience was very pleasant. We started with bread with olive oil, pesto and hummus. Richard had breast of duck on rosemary and thyme mash which was tender and tasty. I had dukkah crusted salmon which was also nicely cooked. We had two glasses of wine each and finished with desert. The owner was looking after front of house. He timed our service well and remained professional.

I have had the pleasure of dining at Feast on several occasions in the past six months. The food has always been fresh, tasty and beautifully served. Their pizzas are one of my favourites as they serve several combinations not found at your average pizza joint. The gluten free brownie is to die for.
