Award winning Fig Tree cafe is just five minutes off SH 2 between Wellington and Wairarapa and is well worth visiting. The food here is exceptional. We are a little obsessed over quality and maximum freshness.
‘Atomic’ coffee is passionately prepared with organic milk… [It does taste better!] and our ‘Tea Total’ gorgeous teas are served out of bone china tea cups.
We use quality ingredients such as Zany Zeus cheeses, free range eggs and have a grower in Levin who supplies a lot of our produce.
Here at Fig Tree we make our own pastry and use it in such dishes as our black ball sausage plaits, french galette, a rustic shepherds pie and our famous smoked chicken and broccoli pie.
Come and sip espresso alfresco in our courtyard, enjoy a sweet treat from our extensive range of delicious, mouth watering cakes and slices. We know you will love it here and welcome you back for more.

The Chicken and Brocolli pie is to die for, and for a time smooths out the bumps in life’s road.
Mothers Day is coming up family if you’re reading this!!

Unfortunately my friend had the crepes, which were on the burnt side, with bacon also on the burnt side and completely drowning in maple syrup, after debating what to do we decided that a cafe this popular (we had to share a table as all the others were taken!) is popular for a reason, and that they would want to know if a customer was unhappy with their meal.
Sure enough when we explained the situation to the manager, she said she was happy to remake or replace the meal, my friend went for the replace option and had a lovely vegetarian quiche.
They took what could have been a disappointing experience and turned it around.
Other cafes could learn something from the continuing success of this cafe.
I will definitely be back for my Rifleman Pie.
