Mmm yum! Fish was delicious, the batter was perfect – not too thick or too oily! The chips were cooked well. The service was excellent! best fish and chips we’ve had in Wellington. Highly recommended.

Fishfins is the central fish and chips place on the main street through Newtown so it’s quite a busy little place. I’m not sure what everyone’s on about here because the chips weren’t great (old oil taste), the fish was fresh and good quality but it was the old story of thick batter surrounding a thin sliver of fish… in other words: a bit of a scam. I’ve honestly had much better fish and chips in half a dozen other places around Wellington. Newtown-ians need to leave Newtown and get out more because the quality isn’t that great comparatively. They seem nice people but they screwed up my order – when the 2 people behind me got their orders before me I asked and found they had simply forgotten about my order, even AFTER finding out about their mistake, 3 other people got their orders ahead of mine??! I was waiting 30 minutes …and trust me, you do not want to spend 30 minutes in a dingy, cramped, fish and chip shop like that. I got no apology, no extra fish, nothing. I’ve had their food twice and it was the same both times, average. But their service (when something went wrong) wasn’t just terrible it was non existent. Never going back.

Fish Fins to put it simply is amazing and is by far the best fish and chip shop I have ever been to. They have fresh fish delivered daily with an exceptional range to choose from. I would always recommend getting your fish crumbed rather than battered. After a few visits they will remember your name and preferences. If you are looking to buy fresh fish for your own cooking or to just to have delicious fish and chips, Fish Fins is the place to go 10/10.

This is the best fish and chips you will find anywhere around here!!! The fish is bought in fresh everyday and filleted on the premises. The chips are hand cut homemade and taste fantastic. The service is the last fantastic element of this great kiwi experience… you are no longer a number, as orders are taken you are asked for your first name, and it is remembered over and over again everytime you go back!! and believe me, you WILL keep going back.
