Ok so it’s not fancy… really at all. But the view is!!! Where this little gem really comes into its own is delivering just a good value feed. Steak was the best i’ve had in Wellington(and i’ve paid close to $50 at Foxglove and wasn’t as impressed as i was here)! And it’s not even a steak joint or one of those snobby places. My feed was $15… the salad bar while quite limited and relatively one dimensional in its flavour (i’m guessing to cater for the family pallet) was well stocked and turning over with the usual things you look for from a salad bar. It was a cracker of a meal! Well done guys! Awesome view that everyone can afford. Go there with the expectation to get full and you will be a happy camper! And so will your pocket!

It is not by choice that I dine here a couple of times a year when visiting Wellington for business conferences – it is favoured by my employers, probably on the grounds that the bill isn’t too large. After all, they are doing the paying! I have to agree that unlimited access to the salad bar allows diners to fill up their stomachs at a reasonable price, but really, the food is unexciting – and that’s being kind. Quite edible, but unexciting.
I have always found the staff to be friendly and quite efficient, though.

If we could put a no star review we would. The food was very disappointing, menu looks good but the salads were slimy and unappetizing. could be a really nice place due to the really nice location and friendly staff, but the decor, cleanliness and food just let it down. I would not recommend you go here, worst food I have ever had in a restaurant.
Came to your restaurant today for lunch and enjoyed most of what I ate. The salads would be nicer if they didn’t come out of a bucket, but they were passable. The staff are pleasant and very very helpful. My one concern was the toilets, they need a really good clean, it was quite a shock to visit the restroom and see how dirty they are ,you could see the grime especially between the seat and lid and on the walls and backs of door. It was not from the morning or lunch trade one could see that it had been like that for a while. Dont think I would rush back

I took a party of 9 people on Sunday 6th November to celebrate my mother’s 82nd birthday. I have to say the deep fried options were not nice, mine was supposed to be chicken but i can only assume it was fried in the same oil as the fish and pork and anything else, as it tasted of nothing but tainted oil. It was plonked on top of some crispy noodles, the kind you can buy in a packet in the supermarket, which just came straight out the packet and on to the plate. The service was slow. The location is just wonderful and the prices are I guess OK, or would be if you were getting something really appealing, but in general I think so much more could be made of this restaurant. We spent about $270 and I would say only a couple of the main meals were really enjoyed. Won’t be rushing back.

I have recently taken 2 older persons groups to this restaurant over a month time span, for a set lunch, and everyone agreed that it was very good value, plenty of salads and veges to choose from, a lovely atmosphere and views across the harbour. A total of 95 persons were all very happy with their experience. Manager and staff very pleasant and friendly to deal with.
I and my wife have visited many times before and have always been very happy with the extensive menu, service and price.

Fabulous waiting staff. You have to know what to order. I had pan fried fish & chips which were rather good. Sundae is just as one would expect. You don’t pay a lot and food is equal to what you spend.

I read the reviews on here, and thought it can’t be as bad as it sounds, well i was wrong, it is!
The seafood soups was not nice worst seafood soup i have had, the crispy potatoes skins where soggy as, but that was just to start.
The mains come out while we where still eating the starter, the fishermans basket was tasteless, and the fish had bones it in, the steak that my partner had was horrid, was not cooked right, and i think it has been frozen, not fresh.
No one come to check on our table to see if our meals where okay, and after sitting for about 15min our table was not cleared and so my partner went up to ask for a doggy bag, as that is all the meal was good for. Then told them about the horrible meals, so we didn’t have to pay for 2 drinks…
Will not being going back, and would not recommend.

Avoid if you can. Food was disappointing. A place with fish on the name not being able to make a good fish and chips . . .

disappointed, its like valentines for fish but with less choice. Would go back but not for a first date
Beautiful location – if you can get a window seat it almost makes up for the food. Choices consist of pan or fried fish with some token other meals and a salad bar. Very impersonal.
They seem to do a wonderful trade with older patrons – perhaps there is a rest home or 2 nearby.
This may be best for older or very young people – but I suspect most working age adults will not be impressed.

The food is average at best. I had the tomato seafood soup thing, which was quite foul. The garlic bread, however, was really nice and the salad bar is good value.

We love the view and location so much we have put up with this tired restaurant for years. The food is probably more than ok, however it is unable to be enjoyed to the fullest as the interior of this spectacular location is long, long overdue for a complete refit. We have bi-annually as a family group of fourteen dined here, however this year we were relieved to discover Soi, the diametric opposite in an almost equally delightful position on the water in Greta Point – perfection in every sense. Come on Fisherman’s Table, lift your game, you are in a beautiful showcase position for Wellington. Your food seems to be fine, but your premises are verging on slum quality. Toilets disgusting! High time you seriously refurbished.

Very basic high fat cooking methods – fine for the undeveloped palate, horrific for those who know or can afford better!
