With some of the best views in Queenstown, this is fun dining South African style. Whether you’re on the enclosed balcony or inside the chic funky interior you will enjoy this new style of dining. Described by a customer as “European flair, with South African flavour, American sized portions at New Zealand prices” -This is a dining experience not to be missed.
All our beef is grass fed from Southland and Otago and is aged for 6 weeks then flame-grilled in our secret basting resulting in it’s unique flavour and exceptionally tender. Racks of ribs are served on a board and come supplied with a flame bib!! Seafood, chicken and vegetarian options are also catered for.
Make sure you leave space for a Dom Pedro!!

The portions are huge but the service was not the best and had to wait a pretty long time for any food to arrive.

As an ex-South African , I can honestly say that I haven’t found many restaurants to rave about, up until now.
My hubby and I shared between us the rib & steak combo as well as the rib, calamari, boerewors and chicken wing platter, both meals were to die for!
We also enjoyed our African Sunset cocktails, which were perfect.
We thought the bib was a lovely touch too.
The restaurant had a lovely ambience and a cozy, comfortable design.
We found the staff and service friendly and efficient, keep up the good work guys!

The service was above and beyond excellent standards! The staff were polite and officiant upon arrival and to the end of our meal. They were very accommodating to our needs.
The food was fantastic. We had the Fillet, Seafood Platter, Mixed Grill and Rib and Steak. The Steaks were cooked to perfection and the Seafood was tasty and fresh. The ribs were to die for. I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone!
They had a great variety of wines from around the globe which suited all our palettes. To end out meal we had a Dom Pedro and a Vanilla Pannacotta which finished the meal nicely. They were delicious and the presentation was outstanding!
I would recommend Flame Bar and Grill to anyone for that special South African experience.
