Had heard a few good things about this place , and working on the Shore was very keen to try it.
I’m a bit burger mad, so I like try just try a simple one first to see the quality and get a feel of the place. I ordered a Beef and Cheese, Medium and hand curt Agria fries. The burger came out slightly over done but was still quite juicy. They cook on a charcoal grill which I’m not a huge fan of for Beef burgers (chicken yes) , there are some places the seem to use charcoal to hide the cheap patties (Charcoal burger Meadowbank!) – but this place the charcoal flavour didn’t over power anything which was good. The cheese perfectly melted and the burger is very full but easy to handle. The buns look a bit pale but are nice and light. All the mayo and relishes are made on site which is great but in the Beef and Cheese burger it was hard to notice them. I sat there thinking that while this was good, I should have ordered one of their more exciting burgers where they probably shine a bit more – But I will do that next time. These guys clearly know what they are doing and I am keen to get into the rest of the menu. If you are on the Shore, this is well worth a visit, it is way ahead of the dry burgers you get at BF etc.
The Agria Fries are excellent also.
One negative is the very limited opening hours.

Had takeaways three times from this place, and the first two visits were pretty good. Decent chips and excellent fish, and my fish burger was great. Most recent experience was bad however. I got a spicy chicken burger and it was okay (nowhere near ‘best in Auckland’ in my opinion), but after eating almost all of it I realised the chicken was not cooked through and was raw inside. I called up and told them, and the lady said sorry. When I asked what else she could do she offered a replacement burger. I took the chicken back to the shop in a lunchbox and the two (pretty grungy) cooks took it away out of my sight, and started doing something with it. One cook then carried on with his work. I asked him for it back, and he eventually came back with the lunchbox only. I said I wanted the chicken back too in case I got sick from it, and he seemed shocked that I’d want it. He and the other chef then spent about a minute doing something with the chicken and came back with the now mangled and wet piece and the lunchbox which was now dripping inside and out with cleaning detergent! Something very dodgy going on there – seemed well rehearsed like they’d handled that situation before – was no big deal. I didn’t get sick from it. I won’t be returning, which is unfortunate as the food was pretty good, just not safe.
