i always drove past and said i wanted to go there one day,so me and my partner thought we would go there this week… the cafe was nice and was not packed which was a bonus,,we asked staff What most popular pancake was and chose the bacon and banana pancakes..the service was quick but the food on the other hand let it down..it was a soggy doughy mess smothered in way to much maple syrup.me and my partner only managed about a quarter if that before feeling ill.. coffees were good.but very disappointed not worth the cost

We have been to the flip n bear twice now. Other than the food being quite nice and very well presented, the place does not seem to be run well. There seems to be no management of the cafe. Food does not come out quick enough and coffee’s get brought out 1 at a time. Systems need to be put in place. Also could make so much more money to be open before 10am. Perhaps more staff, someone with experience.

Always enjoy stopping here for a bite to eat! Love the outdoor seating on a sunny day and food is always delicious! Prices are reasonable also. Although be aware that it is slow when it is busy, which it is often busy during weekends throughout summer!

Good food overall, and filling, and I’m sure when the 15% surcharge is absent the prices are reasonable. However, to wait 50 minutes for our food to be served up was taking the mickey somewhat, sure they were busy, but we came at the end of the rush and a wait of nearly an hour is unacceptable, I would avoid at all costs on long weekends.
I am very disappointed, after stopping in at the Flip’n Bear Pancake Cafe with two small girls (we intended to share a pancake between us) and $7 – only to be told (by the apathetic girl behind the counter) “yes, there are pancakes for $6.80 (but wait there’s more) but it’s another $1 surcharge for Public Holiday”! As I am a local, I preferred to carry on home just 5mins further. So rather than make a sale of $6.80 (and make two little girls very happy) we left! All for $1?? Good grief, what’s the world coming to?!

Love going to the cafe, always enjoy a seat outside and get large savoury pancake for brunch! Good choice for vegetarians and to stop by on the way to Tauranga. Has a lavender store downstairs and sells teddies in the cafe.
