1) We always seem to time it right so we don’t have to wait more than 5 minutes for a table
2) The poached eggs with vine tomato salad, on their house-baked grain bread is always perfect
3) The coffee is fast to arrive and good. The one time it wasn’t quite right (a rarity), the waitress noticed we weren’t drinking it and replacements to made
4) Water is refilled without us even blinking – as soon as our glasses are empty, it is refuelled
5) The staff are friendly, efficient, and organised.
It is a relaxing environment, busy but not packed. I’ve also had the roasted baby beetroot, Serrano ham, shaved goats cheese watercress & black olives salad, which is fantastic, and goes well with fries!!

Service is very good. Dessert menu changes regularly. They have a good selection of wines and teas if you are not into coffee. Their chocolate truffles and chocolate fruit cake are to die for…
They seem to be open till quite late.
Definitely recommend this place.

Food – exceptional.
Service – needs to be tweaked.

They charged us a ‘cake-age’, $8 a cake (two birthdays happening on same day, thus two cakes). Don’t know if this is professional standard at restaurants, but it shouldn’t be.
We spent hours of our own time on those cakes. Then we get charged $8 for each (on top of the money we already spent on the blimmin cakes). Ridiculous.
The food quality was fine but portions extremely small. I know food costs are high but it felt a bit like rations. Coffee was very average. Olive cafe across the way is streets ahead for coffee.

Overall left being totally underwhelmed by the experience. We are massive fans of Fidels up the road. The surroundings are no match for Floriditas, but this is more than made up for by the excellent food and warm and helpful staff that one invariably finds there.

But unfortunately, the last 2 times I visited it was super average.
The first I had the fish of the day. Pretty bland and ordinary. But I thought I possibly ordered wrong.
But I have loved Floriditas for so long I was like “hey, just one bad night ain’t that bad!”.
So my partner and I went again during the world cup. I ordered the chicken with fennel salad, and it was super average. Like seriously, I could have made it. The ends of the breast had totally dried out. My partners meal was also average. He had the pork chop and it was very ‘mehhh’…
I totally love floriditas, the atmosphere, services etc. I love the small seasonal menu concept they have….But I really like good food too!!! And the few times I go out I want a stunning meal! It’s a shame because patrons are pretty fickle and a couple of bad meals and I am sad to give them a 2 star rating…

Tried the Wellington on a plate set menu and was disappointed with the wine on offer
The wine was a selection of Nga Waka varieties and none of the 3 tasted were very good.
Food was prompt and tasty with the exception of Baked Vanilla ricotta dessert, which was left unfinished.
Overall – recommended, but steer clear of Nga Waka wines!
Menu selection was disappointing.
Meals were not as described on the menu – watercress became pea tendrils.
Service can best be described as brisk. There are better places in Wellington than this, we won’t be returning.

Pleasantly surprised when the waitress could remember me and my order on my second visit about a month apart! Talk about exceptional service!

Thursday this week was a cold and wet typical Wellington day, with this the big bowl of ham and split pea soup was ordered together with crusty bread and a meat loaf bap for my companion. Simple and perfectly hitting the lunch time pleasure place.
This European style cafe has become an institution for Wellingtonians and now this Aucklander.

Over the countless times i have visited Floriditas (and i’m talking around 50 times i have been) I have NEVER had a bad experience with the food, drink or staff!
My only disappointment was going there for lunch yesterday & being told they no longer do brunch menu during the week, so i couldn’t get poached eggs on toast that i was craving!
Would highly recommend this restaurant – and will definitely be visiting again soon!

The only thing that was a little annoying was at how close the tables are together…only just enough room to squeeze through to get to your seat, so not much privacy being so close to your neighbours. Also, when this place is busy, it gets very loud! If you can handle that – no worries, tis worth putting up with that to have the risotto!

We ordered a broth for starters and snapper and grilled herb lamb for mains. The broth was actually terrible, it was like water from boiled veges and then sprinkled some salt/pepper on top. The Snapper was decent but the lamb was very frustrating. The lamb was rolled in parsley, where as, if I don’t cut the meat, I actually can’t see the meat. The meat was also bone dry, so I called the waitress over. I told her my displeasures and she said that that was how the lamb came and it is one of their most popular dishes. She told me she would not refund my money and if I ordered another main I would have to pay for the lamb. I paid for the bad broth and decent snapper and refused to pay for the lamb. I walked out unhappy and hungry. Would not go again.

I have worked and dined at numerous restaurants around the world and this was possibly the worst service I have ever received. We were seated right in front of the waiters station and after 15mins had not been acknowledged in any way or even received a menu. The restaurant was less than 1/4 full so it was not exactly busy and the waiter definitely knew we were there but decided to ignore our table.
There are so many other great restaurants in Wellington this is definitely one I would not recommend any time soon. The sad thing is the food probably is very good but if the front of house staff cant deliver then they are letting the kitchen down badly.
