OH those are the Chocolate Frog guys! I wondered where I recognised them from!

I’ve been here several times since I realised it had ceased being “Super” (which was pretty bad). It’s my new cafe of choice because:

1. It’s truly child friendly — the kids’ menu is extensive and not limited to deep-fried stuff, unlike in many places… in fact I’m not sure if there was anything deep-fried in the place. My kids love the cinnamon toast especially. And adults are allowed to order from the kids menu, which is great (not that I ever have, due to the yummy adult menu);

2. The staff are really friendly and helpful and tolerant of all sorts of menu change requests and of wacky small child behaviour;

3. The food is good and reasonably priced;

4. They do gourmet milkshakes (yet to try, but they look awesome);

5. Nice light and airy decor;

6. They have k-bars!

I’m sure there’s other stuff too …

If pressed for any constructive criticism I can only come up with that a couple of the mains I saw others get seemed a little small for the price (but this is not the case for most of the mains), and that it would be nice if they could replace some of the McDonald’s toys in the toybox with something a bit less rubbish, and it would be extra good if they made washing the toys part of the daily routine. I get a bit reluctant to let the kids use the toys in many toyboxes as it seems they’re never washed. Bringing in the Chocolate Frog idea of making sipper cups available and having kids’ books would also be cool.

My partner and I went to Floyds for brunch on Saturday and were incredibly unimpressed. We’d been there once before and had a good experience but won’t be going back.

The service was appalling. After waiting for our meals for over 30 minutes we realised that people who had arrived after us were being served. When we finally asked how much longer we would need to wait we were advised it would be 2 to 3 minutes. After another 5 minutes we noticed another table having the same problem. We were about to leave after a further 10 minutes when our food finally came out. The cafe wasn’t full and the staff were not run off their feet, which we would have understood.

After finally getting our food it was OK. Hollondaise was orange and bland and eggs were nearly as good as we could make at home.

Nevertheless the service let anything good about the food down. No staff member cared that our (and others’) meals were taking 45 minutes to serve. There was no acknowledgement or apology for the delay.

Staff are super friendly. Food is delicious but some components of the meal had far less than generous servings – one tablespoon of hollandaise for two poached eggs on toast at a cost of $15 is a bit mean. We’re local, so hoping that this was just a one off. Brioche I had on another visit was heavenly.

Quick visit while waiting for an appointment in the area on a Saturday afternoon. Had the chicken, mushroom & rice filo pastry for $5. Very tasty, filling, and served with a nice chutney. Fantastic friendly service too. Will be back, hope to give them 5 stars when I order something more substantial!

Now I know why the chocolate frog isn’t so great anymore because these guys have left and taken their great food to Floyd’s! Yum food and a good variety for kids and adults. Don’t miss the kid’s pit – there is enough room for them in here. Great service too.

A return visit, with a friend.

Again staff lovely.

I had trim decaff flat white and the crumpets w/- vanilla strawberry jam.
She had trim flat white and the banana bread toast w/- lemon mascaponi

All very good, lovely homemade crumpets.

Still missing the kids area, I’m sure the kids are aswell. Maynot have been up to Kindy standards, but what a little dirt and dust to a toddler… just more fun!

Great food, coffee and staff!! This is a wonderful transformation of a tired and run-down cafe.

…and thank goodness the kid pit has gone. After 3 years of kids spills, “mishaps” and less than average cleaning, it certainly wasn’t somewhere you’d want your kids to play…

Good coffee
Great Staff
Just had the corn fritters and crispy bacon: Hmmm bacon not crispy, very stringy. Corn Fritters lacked any flavour needed a lot more seasoning. Side-salad enough as a snack for a small rabbit. $17 over priced for what I got.

Missing the kids area of the old Super (what the cafe was before)

Great new look, excellent coffee and a fresh menu. Good to see some old favorites as well as some good options for vegetarians as well as dairy free and gluten free. Staff were great about ordering variations from the menu, I recommend the BELT sandwich sans Bacon.
