If I could use only word to describe this restaurant it would be.. FANTASTIQUE!!
The food was superb and delicious! The staff were incredibly friendly and polite. Thought the space is small and quaint, the atmosphere and food totally make up for it.
So make a booking and treat yourself to a Kir Royale!

December 31 2012. Attended with two Frenchmen and 3 of us: we had squid, steak, snapper, chicken tomato and chicken camembert. All plates were scraped clean with the delicious garlic bread, as were the equally delicious desserts. We would all love to go again.

We celebrated our 7th anniversary at the French Connection. Having been there only once before for coffee, we always wanted to go back and taste the food. The place is small but comfortable, the atmosphere, the smell of wine makes you feel like you are in a French bar… The food was AMAZING. The escargots (which we had never had before) and the calmar poissonniere were tender and delicious. We had the steak forestiere which was perfectly cooked and the chicken with the camembert on top which was also out of this world. The desserts (creme caramel and chocolate gateau) were divine too. We had a great dining experience. The staff was informal but very attentive. . Portion sizes were decent and the price was reasonable. Food presentation was ok, but who cares! It’s the taste that matters! There’s nothing sophisticated and pretentious about this place. It’s one of those “never judge a book by its cover” restaurants. We cannot wait to go back!!

Dined here with a large group. Food very slow in arriving. Pizzas looked like they were made on supermarket-bought bases, other food was okay.

Really disappointing meal. Snails ok, steaks not fillet – kinda shabby place, disinterested staff, too busy to make coffee although pretty much no-one else in the place. Could have been quaint and fantastic – will not return :-(

I have always wanted to eat at French Connection and finally went there for dinner with a group of friends last Friday.

We were seated in a private enclosed balcony, which is not as atmospheric as the rest of the restaurant but provides a view to the Waitakere ranges.

We ordered garlic bread and escargots to share as entree. I had a Steak Forestiere as main. The food itself is excellent and deserves 5 stars!

The wait for the food however was making us impatient. I understand that French restaurants tend to take their time to prepare the food but still felt that it was taking longer than usual for the food to be ready.

While the waiter and waitress seem to be still in their training days, the person in charge is rather friendly.

I would advise that you give French Connection a go because the food is fantastic but take a few good friends with you so that you don’t run out of conversations when the chef works his magic.
