This place is all about kids – young kids. If you are the parent of preschoolers, it would be ideal. If you are on a coffee date – not recommended – the noise level was awful when we were there, there was only one staff member, who, though dedicated, was having to clear all the tables, organise toys for the kids, be at the counter, and deliver food.
The atmosphere reminded me of a run down diner.
On the plus side, they had a very generous cheap sundae – and, as mentioned earlier, if you are a parent you will love it.

A great place for lunch with the kids. A indoor and outdoor play area. A great menu for kids and adults as well a a good range of cabinet food. Awesome staff, always friendly. Excellent coffee. One of my favorite upper hutt cafes.

This place has potential, but not there yet. Must say I did not have a great time.
Service was not good, portion size for the amount I spent is poor and atmosphere needs to be improved.
perhaps the staff could smile a bit more.
The banana bread is expensive for what you get. So either the price needs to be lowered or more included within the meal.
Paint and more funky things are needed to make the cafe funky.

Great service! Great atmosphere! Great Food and generous portions. I can hardly ever finish a meal from there and when I do finish one, I feel like I’m going to pop from satisfaction since the food taste fantastic!

My friend and I went to the funky monkey cafe for lunch two weeks ago. Quite a wide choice available but we both had bacon and eggs which were very nice and thoroughly enjoyed.

The funky monkey is next to a childcare centre and I would say their regular customers are going to be the mums and children that have either been or are going into the childcare centre, it was okay but made talking quite difficult as the noise level from the children was pretty high. At one stage, my friend and I were practically have to shout at each other across the table to make ourselves heard.
