A group of my course friends and I went to this resturant for lunch last week as we had been told it was a great place to eat. First of all we asked if there was a student price we weren’t too worried when there wasnt but we thought $18.50 was a bit steep especially for what we got. The lemon chicken was pink, the chips brown and soggy with not many left and the rest of the food was cold, the service was alright but iI deffenatly wont be going back again

I’m somewhat a regular patron at this restaurant.

Me and my immediate family generally enjoy going here. The food has improved alot is recent months to what is was like at times before. It’s often piping hot and quite tasty, although it would be good to see the dishes refreshed more often. At times especially if theres a dish you really like, and the tray is near empty it can be a big wait to have more of it. But improvements are happening.
I do have to say, if you want to experiance the best of the Garden Restaurant, try and book in as soon as the restaurant opens for it’s guests. Because toward the end, the food begins to run out and isnt replenished as often.
I recommend both sittings, lunch and dinner, although you virtually get the same meals for lunch than you do at dinner, and lunch is around $19 per adult. Dinner is around $29 per adult, in my eyes its alot more economical on your wallet to go at lunch, and its often less crowded than the dinner sitting.

In summary. If you want the best food, book in near to when the restaurant opens. Staff are friendly & helpful, food is tasty, plenty of choices, 70 odd dishes I believe, and overall especially at lunchtime good value for money, with a loyalty card scheme, excellent for regular patrons eventually leading to a free drink from the bar after 6 visits, and a free lunch/dinner after the 12th visit. Enjoy!

Gross! Food was cold and not cooked. We didnt want to eat anything in case we got sick. When we said something all they would offer us is $10 each off our next visit, well thats no use because we wont be going back. A HUGE wast of money. $28.50 each, should have gone ulse were.

Probably the worst buffet restaurant in Christchurch. I went based on the reviews here which looked good bar one. But for the price we paid $28.50 each, all we got was basically leftover stale food (and very little of it). We went at 8pm on a Saturday night and there were only a few other families there so i guess we were just too late to receive our moneys worth. Although I dont think 8pm on a Saturday night is particularly late this is the only reason i can fathom for why other people have had good experiences there and we have not. I thought at least the dessert would be good but there was hardly anything left apart from canned fruit salad and a few rocky road slices. The service wasnt very good either apart from one waitress. Do not recommend to others but my mother has been there on one other occasion for dinner (earlier than 8pm ) and loved it so if you are going to go, have an early dinner so you dont miss out on all the good food.

My first time I went to the Garden Restaurant it was very fantastic. I like their foods, drink and I loved the people who served the food because they lovely and they respect one another.
The foods was very yum and smell nice.

The food was under average. Atmosphere was food-court-ish. Not for us. Wont be going back.

These guys know how to put on a serious buffet meal!

I’ve been back to this place a couple of times at least and it leaves many other places for dust in terms of variety and quality of food.

Food always looks fresh, hot and delectable. Service is always pretty good – although they do leave you to your own devices a bit (which isn’t a bad thing).

The decor itself is nothing to rave about but once you have paid your $26.00 per adult fee – inside you get access to about 3 different types of soup/chowder + breads, lasagne, mac & cheese, chicken wings, BB pork ribs, assorted chinese meals, a plethora of salads, roast pork, roast lamb, salmon, baked fish, sauces and gravies, vegetables and a dessert bar which comes with it’s own snow-cone ice-cream machine along with cheesecake, pavlova, apple pie, lolly cake … you get my drift?

Essentially the place has pretty much something for everyone and in a place that lets you eat whatever you like and however much you like for your one off fee – to truly enjoy the place, it’s best to go in on an empty stomach.

i have never been to a better restaurant in my life. its so Devinne and delicious!! i seriously recommend it. it is so amazing I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!!!
