Buffet meal outstanding. Wasn’t impressed with the dessert. Had to wait in a queue for an undercooked pan cake that tasted doughy. Would suggest improving the dessert bar. Other than that great, cheap place to take your family -Cheers

i love this place..the food was awesome and to see a big stove like that may me think this what the islands needs..we went for a work duo and love the food and pancakes of cause can’t forget mickey mouse pancakes..hehe but would be best to think about extended the eating area agree with other comments eating needs expanding either than that LOVE AND can’t wait to take my mother and mother in law for mothers day dinner yay..yes book before going or even week before never know..

Food has been great whenever I have eaten there however – Be sure to maybe call ahead before turning up, you would think on a Sunday you wouldn’t have to do this but it might pay to. Me and 3 other family members walked into the restaurant around 7pm very hungry and anxious to eat. Noone was there to greet us when we walked in the door so i started to make my way toward the guy behind the bar and asked for a table for four please, i was totally shocked when he said and i quote ” no no no no we dont have enough for here for you” i was like what you dont have enough food and he was like “yeah”. You know i probably wouldn’t have put the whole story out there like this but he was very rude and could have said it in a nicer manner or even apologised for it and for not having a sign to advise people of this. I’ve eaten there a few times and ive enjoyed it but i dont intend on going back because of the very bad customer service

Good except the seating area and food area. Where the raw meat is could you guys move it to like the wall or something. Pretty dumb having to pick your meat while having a line of tables right there and people staring at you the whole time. I don’t wanna watch them eat an i don’t want them lookin at me lol Also the salads are awful coleslaw looks like runny and the taste is discusting. Change the salad person lol Besides that it’s ok

Genghis Khan you’ve got to love that place.
Fine dining with family and friends those last minute gatherings and many birthday celebrations, for all age groups weather your child is 1 years old to my great grandmother who is 70+ years. Love the selection of foods meat beef, chicken, pork seafood with the different flavours of sauces and oils to choose from soups, salads, garlic bread right down to hot chips.
Kids just love it every time they go, because they get to pick and choose what they want not realising they have veges.
But i highly recommend my kids favourite famous mickey mouse pancakes choose your ice-cream and toppings.
Staff are polite and very friendly.
Would advise you to book in advance for big groups or celebrations.

Definitely a fan of Genghis Khan, we used to go there a lot, before we decided to change our lifestyle. We still visit on occasion, its still great, though it can get pretty full some nights – an expansion could work good? Overall good bang for your buck and delicious food!

Nice selection of hot dishes and salads which I enjoyed. Love the idea of selecting your own raw veges and meats and having them cooked infront of you! Yum, yum! Delicious variety of veges and meats which were always filled upon creating your dish. Unfortunately we didn’t get our drinks until 20mins into the evening and the waiter brought a ginger beer instead of a coke. Was looking forward to the hot pancakes and ice cream until I had to wait and stand there for 10 mins before a person was available to cook pancakes and then to top it off upon my pancake being served the guy dropped it on the ground
Other than the poor service, the food was exceptional! Would still go again.

Went there for a work do as well. Pretty good environment, large and spacious. Staff were friendly and cleaned away used plates very promptly. My main issue was with the cooking area. I have been to Genghis Botany and they pay attention to cleaning the cooking surface more throughly than Manukau and as a result the cooked food ends up with lots of burnt residue on it, which put me off having more than i otherwise would have.

In saying that for $20 (which was cheaper than botany) its a reasonable feed with a good variety of choice.

Last night i went to Genghis with a few workmates and I was amazed!! the seating was awesome, such a relaxed atmosphere and the food was delicious!!! it was the first time I have been to this restaurant and I am completely hooked! The customer service was great, I’m in the hospitality industry myself and they are an asset to this company, once you have finished a dish, 30sec’s – 1 min later the empty plate was gone taken away from staff, which left our table clutter-free of dirty dishes!! I will be visiting again soon Highly recommended

I prefer the new restaurant on the main road then the one on Lakewood close I think it’s called only because it’s too squashed up and the other one just has a better setting and lighting. The food is raw so you pick your own meats, sauces, oils etc they have a large board on the top with some recipe if you don’t know what to put on your bowl however waiting in the queue for the cooks to cook your meal may be a killer buzz but it’s pretty cool to watch when they’re cooking. The drinks takes a while and for desert I lobed the pancakes but that’s also a wait aswell but they’re pretty quick though just the waiters are a bit slow and they need more dishes I had to use a saucer because they ran out of desert bowls lol but the prices for all you can eat is cheap so can’t complain $20-$30 I think it was for dinner

Gengis is a really good place. love the environment and great food .. Waiters and staff need more experience and their dress standands not good but over all i will def go there again.. Love it ..

I would just like to say Gengis Khan is an awesome place with great service and a healthy menu.

Highly recommended for those with a family like myself. The kids love it plus they dont realise they’re eating vegies.

My friends & I enjoy the relaxed environment and value for money. Desserts are a real treat you over but it doesnt come back to get you in the middle of the night.

The selection is just enough so your not overwhelmed, its interesting tasty and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Gengis Khan.

I made a booking for dinner, when we arrived to a busy restaurant we found our table to be upstairs. I thought with the dress standards and the seating arrangements that I would not eat there. I was not about to walk up and down stairs to a buffet dinner all night! We went to gengys’ lakewood court, manukau and even though they were busy managed to fit us in and served very well, only $5 more per person and the standards were much better!

went there for my Cousin 21st, for just a small dinner to be honest the room was an absolute MESS!, the way it was set, Not so great, no waiters up stairs a completely FULL restaurant, which i could understand, FUNNY thing NOT enough Spoons Bowls, Plates, Folks or knifes, we stayed up stairs until the line had died down just to get there and HARDLY any food, we had to keep walking up and down the stairs to get our drinks, defiantly needs a Tidy up, Over all Nice food, terrible customer service though that needs to be worked on

We were once frequent visitors to Gengis Khan Manukau. Unfortunately we have not been for many months. We have been again tonight and were very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has actually improved and now an even more fabulous place to eat and a brilliant dining experience.

Lovely Food. Terrible customer service. They need to improve there phone manner from the staff. And they are not good with English. I rang up about a booking. He took my details and said I was booked. Then I rang back the next day, to add an extra person to the table. He said that was fine. Got there on the night and there was no reservation! How can you run a restaurant and not wright down peoples reservations, I don’t get it! Then to be told that I was wrong and didn’t book with them. Granted they were busy that night so I could understand why he was getting flustered. But you shouldn’t let people who don’t speck English properly, on the phone… But as I said before. Food was yummy and for $19.95 was well worth it.

Great food, not so great service and the place could do with a spruce up which I think would make a real difference. I would definately come back however!

An absolute waste of time & money!!!!!
We hired the private room upstairs May 2010, and paid a bond up front, one month in advance. Come the day of the event, the room for hire was a mess, tables & chairs everywhere, the floors filthy & no working power points for our DJ. We also had no waiters to service our 50 guests, clear the tables or take drink orders. We did all of that ourselves.

They were extremely short on staff, cutlery, food & good service. It was so bad that the owner had to cook, run the bar & run red faced around the restaurant like a headless chicken trying to make sure that people had paid.

Due to only 3 cooks on the grill & a full restaurant, we waited up to an hour to get our food and if you ordered a drink that took just as long unless you went up to get it yourself. But the funny thing was, after waiting half an hour for your drink to arrive, you go up there and they tell you there out of glasses?!

They need to improve overall & with 50 customers witnessing 1st hand such terrible dinning, that’s alot of bad feed back going by word of mouth.

Very Poor service, went there for mothers day may 2010 because me and my family always wanted to go and try out the one in manukau and what do you mean small area not really clean, we were waiting for long just for them to refill the food area because there were hardly any food, no spoons at all you have to ask them, hardly any folks and knifes you wait ages for your drinks to arrive and when it does its not cold, water was horrible tasted like dirty tab water with no ice at all, waitress was so slow looked like it was only 2 waitresses working that night, besides that desert was the best part even though everything was running out, you literally have to tell them if there is no ice cream etc which i think is pretty stupid and they pretty much get angry when you tell them. i rather go to genghis khan in botany and new lynn which i think is quality standard just wasted my money on that night just come out more hungrier …

Went there for a work function & totally enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere – next was my birthday, my husband is not one for going out to restaurants – now that he himself has been he is ranting & raving about how great the place is.. not only for choice of food but price as well..

My job had a farewell dinner for an work mate returning to the USA. We all agreed that it was the best place to hold more work functions.
We all loved it and plan to take our families there.
The restaurant was modern and clean and the food choice was excellent!

I enjoy this different style and It made me go a again. awesome………..

This is a great place to eat! this new place in Manukau is the best Genghis Khan that I’ve been to. The food is great, service is great and the place is nice and comfy. Good affordable price for big families and children.

Recently had dinner at Genghis & it was my first time. I must say; I really enjoyed it – it’s great! The food is great and you choose what you want in your own meal! And it’s definitely value for money! Highly recommend this place to friends & family:) Would definitely visit Genghis AGAIN!!

We had the pleasure of having a meal here for the first time earlier this year, and we were impressed with the food and the setting of the place, its a beautiful restaurant, and the food was exquisite, just loved everything about the meal and desert. It wouldn’t be a good place for anyone with peanut allergy though as they have peanut oil and other peanut products which they cook on the same grill, so for anyone with an allergy to nuts should be cautious, but for everyone else with no allergies, its a fantastic place to eat. The staff were really wonderful too and helpful with our selection of food when they figured we kinda didn’t know what we were doing:)!!

was looking for a place to eat with a friend, we thought we try something new and we loved it. fresh food to select and cooked in front of you, many choices of sauces, and to top it of lots of dessert choices of ice cream, pancake toppings. i thought it was really good value for money, i would recommend to other with a high note.
