Fantastic historic post office with funky interior and spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Always great music, coffee, wine and beer selection and cute cream cat – Latte!

Indoor seating, seating in the bar, HUGE back deck and grass area. Awesome outside in summer and a cosy great vibe inside in winter!

Owner / operator that only serves top quality food and amazing fresh bread and baking.

Don’t miss the GYC experience next time you check out Glenorchy…………..

We stopped in for some lunch and the place and garden was packed, I had to wait a little while to be served as everyone was running around very busily, the staff couldn’t apologise enough.

The food was. Excellent and the home made scones very tasty, ample portions of food and very tasty rustic fayre.

The best place to eat in area!
It was my partners birthday and I was excited to share this place with him (I had been many times as I used to work in the area.)
As we walked in the door I had the salmon bruschetta – saw one go past piled up on a plate and just had to have it. Lashings of smoked salmon draped over crisp salad and freshly toasted ciabatta bread. My partner couldn’t stop raving about it. The cabinet food was equally as tantalising, making it hard to choose. A delicious array of sandwiches and homemade goodies. The brownie is a must, served warm with cream and chocolate sauce. The custard slice is also a treat if you are lucky enough to be there when they have it – not usually a fan but they converted me!
Its cozy inside on a winters day, and lovely outside on a summer evening in the back garden to share pizza and wedges.
A great way to top off your trip to such an amazing part of the country.

We had a few days in the village due to weather which was great cos we could try the whole menu and hang with family for longer. We liked very much, all of it food, mulled wine ( want the recipe) ambiance and inside or out. Gotta go there again.

Awesome! Yummy, yummy food. We went as a group on a course and had morning tea and lunch two days in a row.
First day had a bacon and egg croissant for morning tea, then a salad and ciabatta sandwich for lunch – really tasty with a healthy salad.
Next day, a cool morning… had fruit crumble with custardy/yogurt for morning tea OMG! Followed with huge healthy sandwich for lunch. Good service, generous servings, beautiful spot.

We went to Glenorchy for a coffee and found a place called GYC. There was a girl outside cleaning tables that we said hello to then we walked in an open door to see about 4 people sitting inside we walked up to the counter to see two waitresses at the coffee machine talking completely oblivious to our presence for a short while when a head popped out from the coffee machine we were rather abruptly told “We’re closed” in a British accent. I looked at my watch to see it was almost 5 and then looked over to the door to see that the sign on the door did say closed we apologised and left. As were walked out we could here the waitresses and the people inside snickering at us. It seemed they closed early to entertain some of their friends, which is fine but seems a bit unusual to be so rude when we were hardly at fault.
