Godley House is currently on winter hours and has been since Easter until Labour Weekend in October. This is something that has regularly happened over the past 8 years. Our hours are Wed 4pm-9pm and Thurs-Sun from 11.00am. Sorry for the inconvenience but if we opened randomly i.e. whenever the sun shone it makes things very confusing for the public to know opening hours. Our hours are published on our website, telephone,newspapers and many signs both in Lyttelton by the wharf and in Diamond Harbour. The ChCh City Council are working very closely with us to determine what interior works they can carry out in the near future and which ones need resource consent, particularly as it is a listed heritage building. They have made a wonderful job painting up the outside and are aware there is now much inside work to be done. This takes time, but since we love this heritage building and take pride in it’s appearance we are being the squeaky wheel and hope to see some progress over the next few months. Reviews such as this are great as they go a long way in emphasising the need to have work done inside. The gardens do look gorgeous in the summer months as the photos depict and we look forward to the warmer weather bringing out the spring bulbs and buds again. Our accommodation is available (during the winter months) from Thursday evenings through to Saturday evening. We have lots of people staying in our rooms and they love the old world feel about the place and appreciate the fact that since we are a heritage building there are no ensuites but two shared bathrooms on the landing outside. These rooms are always presented cleanly, and are comfortable and warm, during the available days listed above. We acknowledge Godley House is not the place for everyone, but we do have many, many people who come and really enjoy themselves, seeing the place for what it really is, and appreciating the fact it is loved and cared for.
