Just had a birthday dinner at The Good Home tonight and have to say it was quite disappointing after we had heard such good things. Chicken in the burger was dry and over-powered with sun dried tomato, gristle in the “steak” on the burger and extremely oily deep fried prawns which was an odd combination with the burger anyway, oil not hot enough to cook the batter on the fish properly, lumpy pumpkin and parsnip mash with the lamb shank, just about the worst glass of chardonnay I can remember tasting in this town, no condiments offered and not even salt and pepper on the table. Service was slow after we were pounced on for drinks before we’d even had a chance to sit down and read the menu and then a second staff member had to come back and ask again for our drinks order. The whole place lacked atmosphere/ambience and the staff were less than visible or easy to hear or understand. We will not be returning.

Such a very cool fun and comfortable place! We had lunch here on a holiday trip, the food was ok, but the space was exceptional! So we returned for drinks later that night. It really is set up like a very cool good home!

My husband and I have had great meals and the staff when we have been there have been very friendly. I love salads and the ones I have had have been tasty and VERY large. My husband enjoys the steak and burger meals. We’ve also had the pizza and had enjoyable experiences. I have found it to be a quality restaurant. We have also been with friends several times for a drink and something to eat…we’ve always had a grand time!

I have been to The Good Home before and have had average food but the average service I have had has always been with a smile. Yesterday however, when taking some out of town guests for a beer and a snack in the sun, I had the worst experience I think I have had in a cafe/bar/restaurant. The extremely rude manager spoke to the majority of our group in such an appalling way telling a friend to”grow up” after she came to check on the very long wait for our drinks. We never got our food order taken along with the 3 other tables around us. NEVER go to this establishment. I am unsure how they run a business like this. I will be telling everyone I know never to go there. What a joke

Visited the good home for the first time at the weekend, I had the Good Home burger and my partner had Moraccan Lamb salad, was very impressed by both the portion size and the quality of the food, we have never seen such a large portion of fresh salad, service was good and the surroundings we enjoyable. Will definitely be back.

We had a great dining experience for an evening meal with a larger group of friends. The service was prompt, professional and friendly, the food selection was good and everyone was happy with their meals. The presentation and prices were also good. Great music and atmosphere. We’d definitely come here again for drinks or a meal.

My partner and I came here for lunch. I ordered a Chilli Beef salad and he ordered the steak burger.
No where did it mention the salad was going to be Super hot (thai hot as one of the staff said after I complained) – awful and disappointing. As for the steak burger, the 2 pieces of steak were gravy steak and was generally average. To boot the coffee was awful.
When we complained the guy just made excuses and in no way offered a solution.

Never again.

Sadly the food did not live up to expectations at all. The 260g steak in the burger looked like it was gravy beef and was mostly gristle, fat and very tough. The other steak in the other burger was nearly blue!!When we sent them back expecting to get a new piece and the other one cooked a tad more the meat came back all cut up!!!
We ate the chips and couple of deep fried prawns and waited for the manager who looked over several times but no she sent out the young waitress who sounded like she was very new to collect our plates with leftover food on. We did tell her we were not impressed & while she apologised it wasn’t her fault that the good home has lost the chance to recover our custom. Won’t be back for food for sure!! Too bad cos the place looks good. Suggest you spend more on staff who know how to cook.

Had a nice meal here. I had a very large mushroom and tomato salad which was a nice change from the small salads that most places serve.Chips were OK as well.
My wife had a really nice stone grilled eye fillet that she said was one of the best she has ever had.
Meals came out quickly so no problems there.
Plenty of room there and many different outlooks.
Overall it was a great meal for a pub meal and we will definitely return.

Update: Took an out of town friend here as the steak we had last time was so good. This time we were really disappointed with all of the food we received. The sirloin steak was pathetically small and the lumps of broccoli and potatoes that came with it weren’t very appetising. The mushroom and tomato salad that I had last time had been removed from the new menu and there wasn’t really anything else I could eat. Ordered fries and a side salad that was very uninspiring and garlic bread was very average.Prices weren’t cheap so was expecting a lot more. We wont be back.

Chillie Thai beef salad with no beef or chillie! Very bland selection of lettuce & carrot & yellow peppers. Although it looked pretty…and we waited over an hour for this. Won’t be back. Nice spot for a beer on a summer day perhaps – but watch out for the black metal table tops..you could cook your own eggs on these!
