Been there at least 3 times, never had a bad experience. But occasionally if they are busy the service can be a little slow, but nothing major. They messed up my order once but again nothing major and they were quick to sort it out, and discount us. The food is really good, and the option to create your own salad or pasta is also really good. Well worth a try.

I regret giving them 1 star…even that is too good…
Went there with my wife and two young daughters for dinner. Seated in the outside section. 1st waitress came over and took our entrée order. She was soon followed by another waitress who asked for my credit card for “security reasons” – an unusual and disappointing experience. We had our entrée and could not bear staying there long enough to have the mains…so we walked out…Never to Return…I will be checking my credit card for unauthorised transactions. If you can’t trust your customers, why should they trust you?

I have been to Goode Brothers in Botany a few times ,since I live in the area. Sadly to say I had a less than enjoyable experience every time. On one occasion my partner and I had just finished watching a movie and decided to pop down for pasta. We waited at the entrance and were very rudely told to produce our Id’s by the hostess. I was abit surprised since I am 24 years old and I didn’t know you need ID to eat pasta these days. Our Id’s were scrutinised and the lady kept looking at our faces and then our Id’s, it was abit over the top for an Id check at a restaurant. Anyway we were ushered in and seated, it took about 15min before anyone came to take our drinks order and my partner had to physically get up and ask one of the waitresses to take our order for mains. The service was below standard but the food was decent. Except for the ice chocolate which was just chocolate powdered milk. wont go back in a hurry

Wow all those reviews made me laugh, the service is definitely s**t in this restaurant, you are made to feel like you are an inconvenience in their day and it takes forever to be served at your table, food is a bit average but fresh just lacking herbs (key ingredient in Italian food)

In the past month I have been to Goode Brothers twice as my friends suggested this place for watching the Rugby World Cup.

The first time we had dinner for which I ordered a meatball pasta, a mocha and later a drink on tap. The food was really average and nothing more than filling my stomach.

The second time we only had drinks and chunky chips. The chips are fantastic. But then I guess you can’t really go wrong with hot chips!

Overall the food and service were average but the place was pleasant and not too overcrowded to watch a game. In terms of price it was affordable.

Wouldn’t mind going back again to watch another game or just to hang out.

first time back to Goode Brothers after 6 months yesterday, awesome atmosphere especially with the live music. love the new outdoor area, food is still great, fav pasta from now on is #6 (check it out) fettuccine. staff are friendly. would definitely recommend this place to others to try out. Popped in on Saturday for lunch with a friend and we were setted straight away. Food was fantastic and the prices really reasonable.

Definately will be back and I recomend it to anyway dining out that way.

My wife is always on the lookout for nice big salads so she was happy when we sat down at Goode Brothers and saw the menu. She ordered Caesar salad, I had pasta and sauce. Food was good, not exceptional, but priced okay. The service was very disappointing. The meals took far too long to come out and the service staff seemed confused at best. We will still give it another try.

Very average italian food… the bread was better than the pizza, the pasta was ok…. kind of like what I would make at home, not that much flavour, wont be going back soon but not yuck.

Living in the area I have dined at Goode Brothers a few times, with each experience being more than disappointing.

The food itself is average but where they really let themselves down is the service. It is truly awful. On my latest visit myself and two girlfriends (all late twenties) went for a Tuesday night dinner. Upon arrival we were greeted with “I.D?”. No hello or other niceties here. After producing said I.D and a credit card for “security reasons” we were pointed towards the outside area and told to take a seat. After being ignored for 20 minutes despite asking 3 different wait staff if we could please order, we ended up ordering at the bar.

Food (very basic pizzas) took over 40 minutes to come out, 3 different requests for water were unfulfilled and we were overcharged. All of this would be forgivable, if the wait staff had any customer service skills whatsoever. They were blatantly rude and treated customers as if they were a burden. The family at the table next to us made a complaint to the manager who also didn’t offer so much as an apology.

I would recommend by-passing this place and going to the Cock n Bull next door instead. Better food and you get treated like a paying customer should.

Went to Goode Brothers Botany on Friday after having gone there many times. This time was the worst time and we will never go back . Not only were most of the staff/security guard and manager rude – we were made to feel like crap.

First off all we took our 3 teenage children at 7 pm and as we got to the front door the security guard lectured one of them about not drinking – and did not listen when I advised him that they where my children , he then proceeded to talk down to to us as we entered the resturant and also followed us to my seat . The manger came over and did not even appologise for the behaviour or the way we had been treated.

They then proceeded to ignore us and not serve us and go to the Bar to order and get our own drinks and dinner.

I will never go back to this restuarant and nor will recommend it to people I know , in fact discourage everyone that I do know not to go there.

Everytime I go to goodes I find the staff always helpful and efficient, while performing their duties cheerfully.
The food is always cooked to perfection with generous helpings always served.
The beer is always poured correctly or if I feel like a different drink it is always made perfectly.
Ohh yes and some of the female staff are just little hotties – hahaha

Wow… I’ve never felt so unhappy at a restaurant. I came here when it first opened and was very happy with the quality of food and quality of staff. However, the second time I went in Jan2011, it was just horrible. I am from the U.S. and I did not have a valid ID on me. I was told that I was unable to order any drinks but that I was allowed on the premises. I understood the rules and regulations and I was fine with this.
However, after I was seated, I was told that I could not even order food. When I asked for water, I was told that I could not have water. I did not understand how this system worked when there were kids aged 5 sitting around me eating food and drinking water. However, as a 22 year old with no valid ID, I was not even served water. When I confronted the waitress, she said in an annoyed tone that the rules and regulations was that I was not even allowed to be on the premises with a valid ID. I did not understand how that was possible when kids were sitting around me. Just to clarify, I was with adults with valid ID’s who were all 22 years and over.
I watched my friends order and sat there with no food or water.

Then it just started getting worse. Their food just took SO long to come out. I was there after the peak of lunch time but it took nearly 40 minutes for the food to come out. I could hear the table behind me who were seated before us, where the kids were complaining to their dad about being hungry. They were waiting for their food for longer than 50 minutes.

Then a waitress spilled red wine all over a grandpa’s pants on another table and the wine glass cracked all over the table. The guests started picking up the glasses for the waitress and the waitress was just holding a bin for them to place the glass in. Not only should she have been helping to clean up,but she should have been the ONLY one cleaning up. Not making guests touch shattered glass! Sure, spilling wine could happen, but she said sorry very hastily. She just handed him paper towels to clean up but I thought she could have at least offered dry cleaning.

Then, at another table in front of me, a woman started shrieking about her food. When I looked, she was saying that there was a bug in her salad. She looked disgusted and put the bug on the table. I saw the bug and it was just horrible. It was a worm and I don’t even know how the kitchen staff did not even see it in the salad. Again, the waitress (another waitress) just said sorry and said she’ll bring a new salad. The tone of the waitress was just… I wanted to go talk to the manager. They were rude and unsympathetic.

The quality of this restraunt definetly dropped. My friend went to Goode Brothers a week before me and he exclaimed that the place was horrible. I did not believe him because of my first experience there but I should have listened to him.

I would never, ever go here again. Sure it can look attractive with the nice interior design. But the food portions, food quality, waiter qualities have stooped to a new low. I go back to New Zealand every holidays and I live in the area but I will never go to Goode Brothers again. I hope no tourists from the U.S. come here because this place will just bring shame to New Zealand.

Sadly, I must agree with recent comments. We have enjoyed dining at GB and recommended it to friends. Of late, standards have dropped, ie. pizzas and platters aren’t as generous and service has definitely taken a downward turn.
Hope it springs back to the vitality it had when it first opened.

Have been to Goode Brothers (Botany) several times since it opened. Noticed a drop in food quality and service. Some staffs are okay but one has made us feel quite offended so we will not be back again for their overpriced food. The 1 star is for their nice interior decoration and handy location.

not sure about takapuna one, but botany goode bro has gotten worse, noticing cut down of materials on pizza, thats ok, we have skipped their pizza and go for salads this time, finding their veges arent as fresh as before, especially salmon salad, nothing but disappointment, no dressing at all, lack of taste and flavors, felt like eating grass! worst salad i’ve ever had!

Food was very good, service was prompt and friendly. Cost was reasonable. Highly recommend this restaurant for lunches & dinners – especially the Chocolate Raspberry Sundae. Yum!

Took some clients there for lunch. The food was awesome, massive portions (the mini fish n chips is enough for me) & always fresh ingredients. I’ve been there 3 times now & each time is fabulous. Wait staff are sometimes a little slow off the bat but otherwise, would recommend to anyone.

had lunch here for the 2nd time today, thought we would give them a second chance. the first time we ordered a small pizza, more of a light snack and it was delicious but the young waitress didnt give us napkins, salt and pepper or cutlery. just the slab of pizza on a chopping board. today we ordered a beef burger and chicken burger. while the man who served us was very helpful and attentive, our meals were awful. the chicken was dry, and a real let-down after it’s fancy description on their menu. i’m sure they specialize in the pasta meals rather than burgers but after such disappointment, i will never know. it was very quiet at the time yet we were surrounded by dirty dishes and flies. the place looks very welcoming and is set out beautifully. it’s just a shame that we had two bad experiences in a row.

Food of very average quality. Pleasant waitress not enough to make up for overpriced undersized portions[eg.baked fish 2x pieces,not even size of your palm= "large"serving& at $22 not good[e] value for money].We wouldn’t go there again,nor recommend to friends.

Great place, great vibe – some staff are hard to approach, last time I went there we were told to have a seat, but waited for a long time before menus arrived – had to go and get them ourselves, which is unprofessional, as it was not busy at the time we were there. Good range of pizza’s and pasta, but they should expand the other section of their menu that has burgers and fish etc.

Would come here again – v. good value for money.

I love the food here – we eat here at least once per week and the pizza’s are fantastic – you will never want takeaway’s again. There are many pizza options and I am working my way through them all. I also like their platters. Great wine list my hubby likes the beer on tap. Fun place to eat that will be great outdoors this summer.

Since opening this place has become a regular venue on my social calendar! There is always a vibrant atmosphere and great vibe to the place – no mater what day of the week or time of day!

The staff are always well presented and professional but more importantly friendly and approachable

I have enjoyed dining there on several occasions and the food is always so fresh and full of flavor! Not to bad for the waist line either – for us health conscious ladies! The wine selection is suitable for any budget and the Thu – Sat cocktail deals are a winner amongst me and my girlfriends!

Would highly recommend!

I went to this restaurant for the first time on a Saturday night and notice that the service was quick and the food was fresh, but I was not to happy about the loud music as you couldn’t hear what the waitress was telling you, you had to yell
sometimes just to tell the waitress what you had ordered. And pray like mad that she got it right.
