Just got home and had to tell some one! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Service was fast, even with a larger party next to us. The food was absolutely fantastic, everything was delicious. The dark chocolate brownie is the best I’ve ever had. Cannot stress enough how great our dining experience was!

I dined at the Gothic last week. OK on the ambience side, and the food was very good.
Mussel entree was simply stunning. The only downside is that the chef will not part with his recipe…
Chicken main was very tasty, if perhaps slightly over-cooked. and the chocolate mousse dessert was also outstanding, both in flavour and originality.
With 3 courses and 2 glasses of (very nice) wine coming in at $84, the Gothic is highly recommended.

Five of us dined here on Saturday 27 August 2011. We all found the service and our dinner/dessert were excellent. We rate this restaurant as up there with the best we have been to in both New Zealand and Europe. A “must return to” restaurant.
Loved the seafood and the salad served with it! We ordered both the bacon-wrapped scallop entree and the scallop main dish, and enjoyed them immensely. The fish was also delicious. The Gothic is very child-friendly, providing they’re not too rowdy.
Excellent service.
Food delicious and presented in visually pleasing manner.
I had stonegrill which was good but steak needed slicing and attention and I decided I would prefer to have meal cooked by chef. Good way to get it just how you like it if you like it rare.
Excellent themed decor and lovely outdoor setting.
Only negative would be the choice of crucifixion pictures for decor. Not really ‘Gothic’, uncomfortable to look at when dining and potentially offensive to various religious factions.

During our trip to NZ earlier this year The Gothic was one of two most memorable places to enjoy well-prepared and presented steak and fresh fish.
it provides a strong incentive to return to Motueka next time round.
