i went to GPK Albany on the weekend, normally i would go to GPK Takapuna which i think is great!!!
but as this was closer so we went here for lunch with a friend. i ordered a salad which when it came out we both commented no where near as good as Takapuna GPK half the amount of chicken and just an all round average meal ,
but we were not bothered as we were enjoying our lunch out together.

After eating majority of my lunch i looked at the fork full i was about to put in my mouth and there was a dead cockroach !!!!!! on my fork covered in the dressing, i immediately spat the other food out in my mouth and went to get the waiter as i was disgusted, he response to me was, it must have flown in while i was eating lunch and i said no way as it was dead and clearly in the dressing. i was disgusted and they just did not care at all .

The seemed very unhelpfully in making this situation better and we had to tell them to take the food off our bill, we then finished out bottle of wine and during this time the waiter came out to us and said i thought you were hard to deal with, you should see what i am dealing with inside?? i felt this was a stupid thing to say.as why mock other unhappy diners to us who have complained also! just made your service look worse as we realised we wern’t the only people complaining

We finally finished our drinks and went to the bar to pay where i am assuming it was the manager who said to me, are you still here aren’t you the salad girl? and joked about it, We got no sorry for that etc etc just made jokes, i was pissed off that they were clearly mocking me for complaining, then add insult to injury they then over charged me and didn’t even take all the food off our bill.

All in all very disappointing service and clearly some one needs to know how to handle complaints in that restaurant better and know that mocking your unhappy diners is not the way to fix an already bad situation. Also you clearly need to clean your kitchen a lot better or be more careful when washing your food before serving to dinners.

I would not recomend got to GPK Takapuna instead !!!!!!

Went to GPK in Albany Christmas Eve Lunchtime and we had Pizzas which as always were yummy and the kids were looked after so well. It ended our day on a high. Thanks GPK.

Went to GPK on Friday night. The night of the big game at North Harbour. Boy were they busy. Thought we would be there forever as they were run of their feet. However it only took 15 minutes to get table. Menu was great. Had the best Eye Fillet Steak ever served with green beans Potato Gratin and sauce fantastic. Staff were great, friendly and helpful even though the restaurant was over run with people. Would highly recommend. If they are that good with so many people they should be fantastic when less busy. The meals are always yum, service is good. Love the bar setup.. decor is great. Just down from my house so a great local.. pizzas are delish!

Wouldn,t bother going back. We had two tenagers with us and were poked in a corner away from all other diners. we had a gas heater behind us but they did not have any gas for it, nearlly froze to death. The waitress spoke so quitely we had to ask her to repeat herself several times. The food was average to poor, the rump of lamb couldn’t even be cut with a steak knife.

very stylish decor, easy parking and the food as expected was as per the xcellent Ponsonby GPK.
GPK is our longterm favourite restaruant, the eye fillet main is premium quality steak and very tasty and priced $5 below similar elsewhere. Always good for fast, tasty food that is always consistent in its quality. I am very surprised at some of the comments belwo as it is not our experiance and I have eaten at GPKS probaly 50 times (used to eat out alot)

Went to GPK last week, Not impressed! We could hear swearing and yelling coming from the kitchen. The head Waiter was arrogant and sounded like he was taking the piss every time he spoke, he got two of our orders wrong but refused to admit his mistake and was blatantly rude to a waitress in front of everyone. How embarrassing

I visited GPK Albany last night. It was busy but as we were celebrating a birthday we had booked ahead. We arrived at 7 and could not be seated until 7.30 as they did not have our booking.

Once we were seated we ordered drinks and entrées. Drinks did not come and after 1hr, seeing orders taken out to tables that arrived after us, and a complaint, we got our entrées (none of which required cooking) and our long awaited drinks.
We then waited a further 1hr for our main meal.
Upon complaining, the arrogant manager told us they were really busy, and did not offer an apology.

The food was nice, but the wait and management was appalling. If it wasn’t for one terrific and sympathizing waitress, the night would have been a disaster! Neither I nor the party of 6 I was with will ever be returning.

We visited GPK Albany for the first time 2 weeks ago and still haven’t stopped talking about the food! We ordered pea and haloumi fritters and a margharita pizza and they were both to die for…heading back up tonight Atmosphere and service were excellent too.

I for one am relieved someone as reliable as GPK has finally opened locally. What i love is that i can go on a Sunday afternoon and laze around the outside fires, read the paper, and just relax and if i want a fun night out, the bar area on a Thursday night or pre-game is really cool. Mostly i go for the eye fillet and enjoy a good wine with my partner. The service is just as excellent as every other GPK i have ever been to – but the food is the star. Will definitely continue to go! love it!

Our group of 4 had a very pleasant evening and no problems using entertainment card. Off there again shortly

we are a family of 5 and being in the entertainment book gave them a try. Pizzas were ok . beer quite dear, service is again average. I do hate having to ask for everthing all the time ve it pepper, can we have another drink? can i have my salad at the same time as the meal rather than after i have finished, Can we all have our meals at the same time rather than at 5 minute intervals – so half have already finished by the time you are served.

However what does annoy me is their refusal to take the entertainment card, Sorry it was amistake and we should not be in the book. Well then put a sign up somewhere or tell people before they sit down and not after they have had the card accepted by the waiter. This could have been dealt with better. No problem with the manager – the owner apparently refuses to do so,

Well you will loose some business then.
