Had to go to work on a Saturday – cafe wasn’t busy – popped in on way out to Te Rapa, the coffee took close to 15 minutes to wait for a takeaway coffee.
Got a quick snack – the savoury muffin – which was pretty good, nice and fresh…
Like I said the Coffee was good in the end – but pity about the wait.

A cosy cafe with good service and what appear to be a lot of regulars.
I keep going back for my sweet treats but must make an effort to go one evening for dinner as have heard great things!
I have food allergies, and they all know exactly what goes into their food – none of those “we don’t make it here” excuses.
They make an exceptional egg-free moosewood chocolate cake, and for my birthday were happy to go out of their way to make a complete cake for me.
I routinely order the cake, iced chocolate, hot chocolate, garlic breads, and have always enjoyed it. Service is always really friendly and very fast! They do so well with such a small kitchen.
My boyfriend regularly gets the eggs benedict with bacon and now he refuses to order it elsewhere because he knows it will pale in comparison.
Love Grace cafe – I’m a student but am there at least once a fortnight.

In fact we moved house a little while ago to the other side of town and still go back whenever we can just for their coffee. All cafe’s take note… if you make disgusting coffee no one will try your food. Graces makes the yummiest coffee and although I am very partial to their eggs bene, I tried their fish a few months back and it was also wonderful. Lovely smiling people, great service, great food.

I have eaten your ‘grown-up’ cooking on two occasions. I was blown away by your squid the first time so on my next trip to Hamilton from Auckland I insisted on another fix of Grace. My friend thought her beef salad was the finest she had tasted and my teenage children, who are foodies, adored the seafood pasta as much as I did.
Congratulations

This cafe has a fantastic ambience, authentic & well planned surroundings, wonderful food, and awesome staff that make you feel so welcome…very child friendly too which is not always a given with cafes remember
I recommend a visit to Grace on Braid, you wont be sorry, a wonderful cafe in the suburbs which is going to do very well.

Approached a waitress and asked her if she would bring water to to table when she had a free moment. She agreed. A male staff member ( who I was later informed was the owner) told me in a very off hand manner where the water was and inferred that I should get it myself;
Now I have not been to this cafe before and had I known that the water was self serve I would have helped myself.
I told him that I did not know that the water was located where it was and he shot back “well now you know”. I got the impression that he felt this was entirely acceptable to speak to a customer as he had me.
Unfortunately I replied in not a very adult way suggest he should stick his attitude where the sun doesn’t shine, he immediately approached me in a very intimidating manner, put his hand on me and suggested the “me and all my friends” leave. Now my friends had done nothing to offend him.
I told him to keep his hands to himself and sat down not wanting to create anymore tension. He then approached the table and told us all to leave, He was very agitated and refused to be quiet. Thankfully he eventually left us alone.
To add to this the glass ware was dirty and the coffee luke warm and burnt.
