Hadn’t been to GMK before and was looking for a fresh place to take my son out for his birthday dinner.
We were welcomed to take a seat which was a good start, unfortunately it was all thumbs down from there.Firstly I ordered the shrimp pizza but it was not available then ordered the calamari and fries which came to the table cold without the fries, when the waiter came out with the second one there was less on the plate and still no fries. Half the meals came out while others had to wait. Wasn’t nice waiting for my meal while watching the others eat. we had to asked for the fries as they were clearly forgotten about, not good. We had to asked for the kids deserts to come to the table. The waiter offered one drink not good enough one thought. There was one waiter who didn’t have very good personal skills and came cross awkward. I wouldn’t recommend GMK which is ashame as the location is great. Food was average and needs improvment.

Used to be the Breakers site and buzzing. Its not so good now – sorry. Great location but food has slipped standards. Just not impressed, not been back. Actually followed the Breakers Restaurant when it moved.

Great place to relax and feel at home .
The Bar Manager at the time was very informative and helpful during our dinning experience .
We were happy to find out they had free Wi-Fi we made use of that while waiting a short time for our meals.
I had the Salt and Pepper Calamari my partner had the soup for our entree both meals were a delightful start to our night for main course I had Spinach Ravioli my partner had Butter Chicken.
We thought they were great meals for the winter great value for money as well.
Will be back for sure more items of food i wish to try.

Food was below average and took a long time to come out, staff not very welcoming or engaging, annoying having to order at the bar, but a good location & clean and tidy.

Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, loved the pizza it was thin based meat lovers other meals to note I have loved are the Ravioli ,Tomato basil pesto pizza,Butter Chicken,Lamb Burger,Salt&Pepper Calamari,
Lasagna,Gmk Beef Burger,Beef fillet meal,
Chicken Cheese Burger,Fish & Chip meal I had a salad with the meal in-stead of the coleslaw,O that’s right Chicken Parmigiano one of my top picks.
I have played pool with friends while waiting for my meals or sat by the open fire place .
Thinking back I have also tried the Seafood Bouillabaise if you love soup type dishes its great it surely has improved compared to a review early it just shows that things can improve and change for the better.
I came to the bar to order and found that quite good as you could sit where you like and move your number for your table.
I have recommended to friends and family a great place relax and enjoy pleasant food.

Large, brightly lit hall-like environment with ugly furniture and pool tables in the corner – not particularly atmospheric. Food was very average (one gilled chicken and salad pita pocket, and one chicken and cheese burger), being quite bland and in need of seasoning. Not usually a good sign when you have to order at the bar, but the waitress was very pleasant. Perhaps an outside table would have been a better choice.

Have traveled the whole north island and dine in many different places, but the best service – food – location I found to be the GMK in Napier. Very good team specially the bar manager… The bread with home made dips was yummy

My husband and I ate dinner at GMK in Napier. We had a lovely seat outside with a beautiful view. We ordered dinner inside from the Manager of the restaurant and he served us for the rest of the night. He was an extremely awkward man who struggled to inform us about the menu and happenings of the restaurant, however, he was attentive. The meal was a huge disappointment. It was the worst food I have ever had at a restaurant. The seafood bouillabaisse included some alright tasting mussels and clams however, also included the most fishiest tasting pieces of fish with fish bones and scales. Over the top was what seemed like a can of tomato paste with absolutely no flavour. The most redeeming part of the meal was the bread however it was placed inside the bowl which meant that by the time it arrived at the table the bread was completely soaked in tomato paste. This restaurant is at a great location, however, the food needs major improvements. Once this happens the service could be bearable. All I have to say is after eating this disgusting meal I needed to go to another restaurant to get rid of the taste left in my mouth and to have a proper dinner.

Great position by the ocean and efficient friendly wait staff. We had the fish and chips and chicken parmigiana. Both were generous and tasty.

A nice location and plesant dining room.

We were a little surprised that we had to order at the bar, but the service was reasonably good.

The food was okay, but not great. We had Gnocchi and the Stacked Beef Burger. The Gnocchi was fine, but there was too much sauce and it tasted like tomato paste more than anything else. The Burger was nice and large with a great sauce, but the patty was over-seasoned and the natural beef flavour was lost.

Good venue. Ceasar salad nice & fresh.
Disappointing fish & chip meal – small in size, fish is frozen not fresh.
