This place has DEF changed management. I dined here for my first time with my partner and my father in law who had raved on about this place being awesome but had been a year or so since they ate there. I was looking forward to it but I left very disappointed. First of all we had to wait for the manager before they could open. The manager was 15minutes late which I thought was not good enough as a manager you should be there earlier than when the restaurant opens. I ordered a ladies eye fillet and it was SHIT!! Took one bite and it tasted old and had that sour after taste and it was TINY also I got the baked potato and it was just a potato wrapped in foil chucked in the oven then cut in fours with sour cream thrown on top, I’ve had better baked potatos in my life. My father in law had a scotch fillet it tasted better but the size was disgusting couldn’t even tickle his belly. My partner had the best meal which was a beef shnitzel and also the cheapest. When we complained to the lady she was so rude!! Didn’t say sorry or anything just wanted to argue with us she was a cow!! I would def not recommend anyone eating here I agree with all the above bad comments about this place my experience was far from pleasant and I will be letting everyone know not to eat here. Waste of time and waste of money!! Would of been better off going to KFC.

We have been coming to this place for years, however I do not think will be coming back at all in the future. We all ordered steak (4 of us) for dinner. My husband and my friend ordered a sirloin and a T-bone, which were OK, however the eye fillets that both myself and my other friend ordered were absolutely disgusting! The meat was really old and smelly with a sour aftertaste. We only took a couple of bites and left the rest on the plates. I mentioned it to the waiter just before we paid, however the only response we received was an ‘o really’. My intentions were not to get a discounts, however an apology would have been nice. Very bad experience! I will not recommend this place at all!

I took the family to the steakhouse and was once again impressed, firstly the steak was great, you must try the mushy sec and secondly the staff who quickly seated us and made us feel comfortable. I have been dining at the steakhouse for years now and can honestly say you get value for money.
I made a mistake of going to another steakhouse in town, no sauce, no eggs…what steakhouse has no eggs?
I would recommend the great western to anyone taking family out to dinner.

Never had anything other then the special but this is always great. We order some sauce and onions and there is a good range of salads on the salad bar. Cheap feed, good food.

Would not recommend eating here unless you want to pay for food poisoning. The decor is old fashioned and dirty. The layout is crowded but I can’t understand why as I doubt they get that many customers. The salad bar is disgusting and I didn’t bother trying any of it as it all looked old & dirty. My partner ordered mussels for an entree which smelled like a toilet and he felt ill after eating it. My entree was nachos which had obviously been heated in the microwave and were cold in the middle. Our mains were ok, but by that point our entrees and the salad bar had already put us off and my partner didn’t even want to finish his jack daniels, we just left. Service was just as disappointing, staff were like zombies and really didn’t care. I did complain when paying and managed to get a refund for the nachos although I would have been happier with a refund on the mussels as well. Safe to say I’ll never ever go back and will make sure I tell everyone I know never to go there

It has been about 8 months since our last visit, the staff were as normal professional, the menu advertises $10 meals for lunchtime but there was no $10 menu in the restaurant, or the steak special that they have had for years. When asked we were informed of our options.The salad bar has shrunk dramatically since our last visit. We use to like coming for the beans and corn there was none. The lettuce salad was floating in a bowl of water which was really odd, i do not believe this is a culinary practice and all the salads were old i.e. the potato and pasta salad were all mushed up. If the restaurant was busy I would be more understanding but it wasnt it was about a third full. Overall it was a really disapointing experience. We have been coming here for the last 10 years and this is the first time we have left disapointed. We were not asked how our meal was also a first, we were thinking its possibly because the staff knew it wasnt all that good.

We have been dining here for many years, we have our favourites and they never fail to satisfy us, both quality and quantity are great, just luv the cauli salad, staff are pleasant….would be my favourite place to dine on a moments notice…well done you guys

I have dined here often and never have had an issue with service however, I would not waste my time arguing issues of bad quality and or bad service with the hired help you can simply ask for the manager rather than ask someone who is just a waiter/waitress or hired help.

Generally speaking the staff their are friendly and approachable, so prehaps from the first bite you should know if your going to eat the rest jump on it early damand the manager or walk out without paying see how fast the manager comes then

I dined here on Saturday the 14th Feb for lunch, i ordered the calamari and my brother the scotch steak and the children chicken nuggets, my brother and i struggled to eat our food as it tasted very cheap in quality which we were unaware of at the time. The poor kids couldn’t eat a thing which i didn’t blame them as the inside of their nuggets were brown and gooey and the taste was absolutely disgusting, i complained to staff about these nuggets and asked if i could have my money back as they were barely touched, the staff member looked almost angry at me and instantly shook her head and said NO very abruptly which i was very offended by, i then asked her what she was going to do about it as the kids could not eat it and she said that there was nothing wrong with them, i told her there was and so she walked to my table and ate one of the chicken nuggets from one of the kids plates then yelled across the restaurant “there nothing wrong with them!” She said this several times. This was very offensive almost intimidating i do not recommend this as i nice family restaurant more like a rough pub. At the end of the day I received no refund or vouchers for the loss of money spent on the bad food we received, i didn’t even get a sorry. Overall the quality of food and the professionalism of staff at this place is very bad i would not recommend. Very unhappy customer

Firstly, has this restaurant changed hands in the last few months? Food has seriously slipped back as has the service. Used to be well cooked and presented food at a reasonable price with good service. Alas, a recent experience proved otherwise.
If you order battered fish you get a piece of frozen fish out of a packet and just slapped on a plate, not a good look! Also the pancakes are a pikelit just put on a plate and a dab of maple syrup and cream. First time I have ever had a restaurant meal straight out of the supermarket and slapped on a plate.
Steak was tough, not a good look!
Very disappointing.
