I recently stayed at the Emerald hotel with my family and i have to say that i wasnt impressed with the breakfast menu at all.
There wasnt anything wrong with the quality of the food at all but the price was steep and unjust considering there was hardly anything on offer for the breakfast buffet especially since your paying $18 per person.
The only thing that made it enjoyable was the fantastic service that we recivied from the breakfast staff who were all so lovely and helpful.
I think some changes need to take place

We stayed at the attached hotel back in October 2011 and had breakfast, was very disappointing and service pretty poor.
We come to gisborne often and wouldnt make a habit of having breakfast here. I’m sure we can find a more enjoyable place. And may try for dinner some time as another review seems to think it is great…. Although it seems they know alot about the menu and the chef? Coincidence maybe?

Thoroughly recommended to all.
As a regular diner at The Grill Room i am happy to boast of the enjoyable meals and outstanding service i receive whenever i visit there.
Sun – Thurs is ala carte. And the menu always has something for everyone. From Seafood to steaks its all there. The young chefs never disappoint.
Fri – Sat is the Seafood buffet and it has quickly become the hub of all special occasions for our family. With a many platters for non seafood lovers, the 3 buffet is a must see to believe.
The staff are super friendly and very friendly and chatty.
The Grill Room is a real treat for our family. I hope you will take your family or loved one there and enjoy it as much as we do.
