One word describes our visit – Perfect! WOW – the food was amazing and the best meal I have had in New Zealand to date after being here for 9 years!! The food was exquisite. The lamb was cooked to perfection , the steak melted in my mouth and the Chocolate desert – heaven on a plate – I was sad to finish my meal. Charlie (the chef) came to talk to us. The organic focus and locally sourced ingredients make it as perfect as you can get I think. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the the hosts Fred and Alex were welcoming and made us feel thoroughly spoilt! It was special evening for my Husband and I and the whole team made is more special. Thanks to you all – and I am coming back to try everything on the menu!!

Hamurana Lodge is an exclusive and very special place to visit. The owners (Fred and Alex) and staff (thanks Nicola) do everything they possibly can to give you the best experience possible, going out of their way to make you feel special and comfortable in their beautiful lodge, which is intimate and tastefully decorated. We dined there while staying in the area and I am so pleased I found out about this treat of a place, it was romantic and intimate, and much more.
The food was exquisite and I was impressed with the young chef who has the confidence and talent to produce such sophisticated food. He takes the time to visit each table and chat to everyone, and proudly tell you about his plans, dishes and ingredients which are locally sourced or even grown on the grounds.
My duck was perfect and the cognac reduction the best accompaniment I have ever tasted with duck, which is one of my favorite dishes. My partner was in raptures with the salmon starter and then beef main. We each had dessert and it was my turn to go into raptures with the chocolate plate! (see photo of chocolate with raspberries) A truly remarkable dessert which has a secret ingredient. I’m not telling though, its for you to go and taste to find out!
I can definitely recommend Hamurana Lodge to stay in or dine at Le Manoir restaurant. You cant go wrong!

Le Manoir is a real treat, being welcomed
at the door & shown up to the elegant
dining room with open fire, we expected
something special & was not disappointed!
The menu was varied & prices reasonable no
complaints of food or service.Not having to drive into Rotorua is another plus.
Looking forward to trying it out again.

We went as a group for a 60th birthday party. There were 16 in the group.
The service and the friendliness of the staff was just amazing, with the organising of the evening was top rate.
On the evening we were greeted at the door, made so welcome we felt very special. The dinner was exceptional, the service great, and the food was just devine. I am still getting fed back from our friends that it was just a great evening.
