I have been to this place more than 5 times in the last 3 months (boking the group table or as small groups or 2) – Great to take guests there as its always great food, value for money and great atmosphere (and views of Auckland), However, on the last 3 occasions, we have received apalling service from one waitress in particular. For two of these visits, I just let it go, I presumed she was just having a really bad day, maybe she was having problems and may explain why she dropped the knife and fork on my elderly mother’s plate, and looked at her in distaste when she asked for what what teas are available (after our table was hastily cleared, including my unfinished plate). I didn’t like to complain because I like the place and I will go back!
But last night, when she simply couldn’t be arsed hearing what we were saying politely and forgot to get our drinks after sitting for 30 minutes, I decided to write this, to the owner of Handi as advise for the betterment of his establishment:
“If you know what’s best for your restaurant, let go of that grumpy moody waitress, she is rude, lazy and simply does NOT hear what is being ordered. The other wiatress had to cover for her screw ups and frankly, she is bringing down the reputation of your great restaurant”
Its true, one fly can totally ruin the broth.
But let me reiterate that my review of the fantastic food, setting, value for money stays: Fantastic. Thank you to everyone else who work hard to make this restaurant a gem.

I decided I would come here after being encouraged by a friend. Since then I have been about 10 times.
I enjoy the chicken karahi and the vegetarian curries. The food is hot when asked for hot, which is great
(its normally mild or medium). The naan bread is to die for and you could just eat it on its own. Service is quick which is fantastic. Staff is OK, there is only a couple of staff, one appears very timid and the other girl looks like she doesnt want to work. But oh well, the food is great so we dont care, you could always get takeaways though! They are not busy dining in and I have never needed to make a booking. There are great views over the bush.
I do think the location is a shame, as no one really know’s where it is. Plus the parking has all been ripped up which will put people off more.

Previously dined at Masala, but was recommended Handi, wow what a fab restaurant, little hidden away, but decor really nice, view wonderful for my out of town guests, and the food, yummy, we tried seven dishes, veggie and meat and all top notch. we have travelled through India so know a good curry, previous long time diners of Kashmir in Dominion Rd, and Handi, blew us away. Fantastic staff, quick service, will definitely return. Well done guys

Hands down the BEST Indian restaurant in Waitakere!! Super friendly staff, amazing food, lovely views, great specials. I think the prices are very very fair, and the portions are big. You’ll get the yummiest papadoms when you first arrive, it’s all part of the excellent service! We come here once a week. It’s worth it. A hidden treasure in Titirangi – with it’s own parking. How could you beat that?

Child-friendly, relaxed atmosphere, cool view over tall trees with native birds ducking and diving between them, professional and friendly service, delicious food – especially the vegetarian dishes, meat dishes could do better but still very nice. Amazing naan bread. Go the $10 mains nights.
