Great location, but terrible service.

3 of us went to Hansen’s for a few coffees. The coffees were on the lukewarm side and so was the “iced” coffee, no ice, served straight from a warm cabinet that wasn’t refrigerated. We thought that might’ve just been a display but it wasn’t.

We very politely commented about the iced coffee to a waitress and was confronted by the manager who then huffed and puffed to tell us that is “impossible” to make an iced drink on demand. She went on to say that it is also impossible make any iced coffee completely cold with a coffee shot as the shot is, obviously, piping hot.

My friend and I (a bartender and a former barista), pointed out, in the most non threatening way possible, that it is as easy as putting ice in on top of the shot etc etc. She insulted us on our advice (“Sorry ladies, this is not Auckland and we do not have an ice machine”), rejected any offer of a refund or an apology at the very least and after a small discussion, she offered us another coffee which was then kinda slammed onto the table.

We were prepared to buy food from there, but ended up going somewhere else instead.

Beautiful spot on the waterfront, but really appalling service, which is a shame.
