Really disappointing experience, I had to wait nearly an hour for my takeaway order, which I paid for when I placed the order. Sadly there were only a handful of people at tables and another 3 or 4 waiting on takeaways so not sure why the hold up. When I finally got my order (and was asked to pay again!) and rushed home to eat while at least vaguely warm I found they had given me the wrong order. Headed back down with the food which the waiter promptly tried to give to someone else that was waiting! Thankfully someone else caught him and said no. After waiting another 20 mins and confirming at least 4 times just what I had ordered I finally got the correct order. Which they then tried to bill me again! You couldn’t pay me enough to go back there.

I’m afraid I must agree with the last review. I was there with my aunt who just like me loves vegetarian indian food. The dishes were extremely oily even for indian food standards and definitely not made with fresh products. I strongly recommend going somewhere else. Sorry Hello India!

On the basis of the reviews on this page, we booked in for a group of us for a special occasion. The staff were helpful and friendly, however, overall I would say we were underwhelmed with the food as it was not fresh. One of our party was gluten free, and enquired about the roti flour (whether it was wheat or garam) and the waiter brought out the packet. The pakora and onion bahji were substandard. As for the mains, one of our party requested extra hot vindaloo but it was medium at best. When he asked for fresh chillies they brought out a sauce as they did not have fresh chillies. I dont see how a restaurant can be rated this highly when it clearly doesnt use fresh produce.

I had read the review that said this restaurant had the best Indian food in NZ.
Well, it certainly lived up to that comment. Indian food is a favorite for me and I’ve eaten lots in different parts of the world. The food was delicious, with the right balance of spices. The service was great and the environment very relaxing. Make sure you top off your meal with their delicious Indian Chai tea.

My family, friends and I have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions and have found the food of excellent quality, like grandma’s cooking, authentic India food (I teach India cooking so I know what the food is supposed to taste like). High recommended to anyone wanting to try Indian dishes.

We rate this place highly! Only 1 place do we consider better, but thats some distance away (India) Nice people too!!

we used to go specifically to his previous outlet in Tokoroa , spend about $250 & fill the freezer.He is the best I have found in NZ by far ,& the Cambridge restaurant is a blessing .As for the other review re the bug , I suspect a disgruntled competitor !

Found a bug in my food and was told next time would be given a discount, went there next time and they gave me $5.00 off a $50.00 meal, would not go there again.

A fairly new Indian Rest/take away to Cambridge. We thought we’d give them a try, and was truly glad we did. Totally authentic curry oozing with substance and delightfull aromatic flavour, an absolute delight to experience. Comes highly recommended by us,and others who have shared their satisfaction with us.
