Great Family Restaurant where everybody can feel at home. We have a large sunny Garden bar, soft background music, so you can talk to family and friends, while enjoying your meals. We have spacious, comfortable seating, friendly staff and a fantastic chef! Children most welcome.
We also recently refurbished clean and affordable accommodation for visitors to Matamata.

I took my husband out for his birthday for dinner here & can’t wait to go back!!! not only was Tania the waitress attentive & super efficient & very. friendly. The meals, I had the current Chicken dish on the menu to which I must share is the very best meal I personally have ever eaten , my husband had Fish of the Day couldn’t quite finish his meal. The chef is obviously very talented and certainly welcome to cook at my house anytime haha Well done Horse & Jockey !! a fantastic meal, service excellent and we will definitely return for another scrumptious meal out asap Thanks to all of you who made our dining out a special event

Havent been to this restaurant since the change in chef and menu but last time i went was not at all impressed with the Bar manager or whatever he likes to be called, was very rude and kept staring!

Went here last night for a family dinner. The food was awesome and the service excellent!! We had two toddlers and the children’s dinners were the best I have seen yet. The bacon pasta was a big hit for my 2 year old daughter. Had a great night out and will be going again for sure

First time here and will make an effort to come more often. The service was very friendly and the staff very approachable. The meals where absolutely delicious,and very reasonably priced. I would defiantly recommend it, and we will be coming back again.

The worst restaurant meal I’ve ever experienced. Incredibly rude service, combined with absolute arrogance and disrespectful lack of courtesy.
The guy actually took pleasure in being an arsehole to our whole party, and he was the manager/owner.
You’re welcome to try, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you had a similar experience.

Apologies for the bad experience, we have new staff on board since October, including a fantastic chef. We see more and more people coming through with a lot of repeat customers. We invite people to try us and see for yourself…
