I recently went to Iguacu with my wife, and had the best dining experience we have had for some time. The attentive service was outstanding, and the food was great. There was a little delay on the food being delivered, but I assumed it was because my steak was so huge! We were really genuinely impressed.

A number of friends have recommended this restaurant to us over the years so my husband and I decided to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary there last week. The food was lovely especially the salmon and the duck and it wasn’t overly expensive. Our waitress was delightful and recommended a lovely wine. We were surprised at how big the place was but it had a really nice feel to it. All in all a wonderful night and we will definitely return.

Came here for a lazy mid week lunch and it was delightful. They didn’t mind us hanging around for a good two hours, taking our time with the wine and food. Food was decent but we messed up by eating too much bread so couldn’t finish the meals! I had the beef cheek which was sooo flavourful and tender, yummy!

I know Iguacu has been winning heaps of awards and I keep on going back to see what the big fuss is about and I still can’t see what is so great about it. They have paper protecting the table cloth on the table, which is a huge turn off. The toilet is pretty much what you get in any westfield mall, another turn off. Food is so so, good for pub food but not for the price, maybe a bit home cooking in a way, lack excitement. When we ordered dessert once, it was pretty a slice of cheesecake cut out of a big one, with some fancy white chocolate decoration on it. It’s the kind that you get from Eve’s pantry, when I’m paying that kind of price I want something more special thank you very much. [I am adding the bit below after going there again last weekend:] I suppose the quantity of food is good, probably a good feed for someone used to home cooking or country pub food, but definitely not somewhere I would recommend people looking for more refined flavour. Service so so, not very professional, too much flirting with the customers. Went the other day cuz it’s nearby and want to give it another go, the waitress pretty much had her ass in my face the whole time while flirting with my boyfriend, my boyfriend ended up asking me if we could leave because he was getting so uncomfortable. Tip for you young lady: maybe before you want to hit on some taken guy you think is rich, figure out who is in charge of the finance in his household first. Also, a bit of self respect go a long way. On the plus side she was very attentive towards my boyfriend if you call that good service.

I have driven past Iguacu in Parnel so many times and was thrilled to get the chance to take my mother in law and hubby there. We sat outside under the fairy lights and enjoyed our glasses from the great wine selection. The food was great but the eye filet I had was missing something … it needed a personality, it was the same thing i have had at many other restaurants. The Sirloin and the fish n chips were gobbled up to a rave review. All in all we had a great night and the choice of restaurant impressed my mother in law!!! Will return but perhaps try something else this time.

The food was good, even if it wasn’t what we’d ordered! The starters never arrived and we were given different deserts from our order. I enjoyed my main though all the “rare” steaks were “medium” done. At just over $80 per head, it’s not cheap, but was enjoyed nevertheless. A pleasant evening with great company.

We were up in Auckland for the weekend, celebrating a friends birthday. While being treated with very little respect by our accommodation (which we felt was due to a quickly made, first judgement of our age – 22 and 23 years), it was absolutely lovely to have a fantastic dining experience at Iguacu. The service was friendly, quick and accommodating. The food, perhaps could have done with a little more seasoning, but was perfectly cooked, with the ingredients in the dishes complimenting each other well. While I will not be recommending the Quest in Parnell (our chosen accommodation) to anyone , I will not hesitate to speak very highly of Iguacu – it being one of the highlights of our weekend – Thank you.

Whilst on holiday in Auckland myself and my husband ate at Iguacu, it was the best meal we had dining out in Auckland. The service and food were fantastic. I will highly recommend Iguacu to family and friends who visit Auckland. I hope to return one day for another visit so will definitely dine here again when in Auckland.

I had Mother’s Day lunch at Iguacu with my partner, my son and his partner. I had never heard of this restaurant so we were completely in my son’s hands. What a wonderful lunch we had. I could have chosen 5 dishes from the entree menu alone – it is rare these days to find so many different items on one menu that appeal. Our meals were cooked to perfection and gave the taste buds a real awakening – delicate tasting but very yummy as well. To top it all off there was a jazz duo playing live and they were great. I love blues Jazz and they did it wonderfully. Give this restaurant a go – you wont be disappointed.

My partner and I were lucky enough to dine at your restaurant, as we were given gift vouchers for our engagement. We had an enjoyable time, and very much enjoyed the meals that we had. However, we felt that the portion sizes were small, I had the Prime Eye Fillet meal and my partner had the Hawkes Bay lamb. Even though we enjoyed it and was very pleased with the way in which it was served, when we received the meals it looked small and after eating we still felt we needed more. (This was after we both had an entree).

In addition, we felt the meals took longer than expected to arrive after we had ordered them. Another small thing, is that we felt we the time frame in which the staff took our entree order was long, we felt we were sitting for a while before our order was taken.

On a positive note, we felt your staff were very friendly and helpful when asked about anything, also the quick response to filling our water glasses. This lead to our experience at your restaurant being excellent. Further more, the quality of the meals was top class and we would highly recommend your restaurant to family and friends.

We originally met in 1964. This night out was a reunion and farewell to the friend and her husband who live in England .
We were seated upstairs ,the music was pleasant and non obtrusive, we could all hear each other without having to raise our voices. The wine list was interesting.
The menu made choosing difficult, it all looked inviting. Once decisions were made the service was great, the food looked fabulous and tasted even better. Pity licking the plate has gone out of fashion.
Our waitress was helpful, attentive and efficient. All in all this was the nicest dining experience I have had,not only in NZ,but anywhere

We dine at Iguacu 4-6 times per year.
We were in Newmarket yesterday and decided to go there for lunch. What we like about Iguacu is the standard of service, food and ambience NEVER changes; it is ALWAYS 5 star.
Whether the restaurant is busy or quiet, they manage to keep the high standard.
Well done Julie-Ann Bell and your team…

We popped in on Saturday night, & as we were short of time, only had an entree each & a glass of Moet.
The food was fresh & tasty, & the Moet a comparative bargain at $16 a flute. We had called in to have some of the luscious oysters, but they were so popular, they’d run out. We will have to return to try again, & hopefully have more time to enjoy a full meal.

Took my mum to Iguacu for lunch on Sunday and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The tuna nicoise was to die for, the mussels were divine and the calamari was nice and tender – aioli was a great complememnt. The beef carpaccio was one of the nicest I’ve had in a while and mum enjoyed her salmon which was cooked just right. All the dishes were nicely presented and the flavours were balanced nicely with the style of cooking. Didn’t really need dessert but couldn’t pass that! Our waiter was very considerate and gave us tasting plates when he realised we would all be sharing the dishes. Will certainly not leave it too long before we visit again.

Iguacu has always been an iconic in Parnell with its big flame in the front of the restaurant. If anyone is looking for a venue that is kid friendly, Iguacu has an extensive menu for kids (best one I’ve seen for ages) and the little area by the bar is great with the tv and dvd and board games for kids. My 4 year old didn’t want to leave she was having such a great time. Definitely a place that will be on my list for a nice family restaurant. And the adults food is great too!

Iguacu has been a favourite of mine for many years as you always know you will receive a consistently good meal. The service is never intrusive and the staff always go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I visited last week with friends from out of town and they were all suitably impressed. The beef wontons were superb, as was the crème brulee which came in three flavours. The children in our group enjoyed their activity books and the fuss the staff made of them.

For our daughter’s 18th birthday, with the dreaded little brother away at school camp, we planned to go out for an adult dinner. Although we hadn’t been there before Iguacu turned out to be a great choice. They gave us a great table in honour of the birthday and our charming French waiter gave us just the right level of attention. The food was delicious, hot and fresh and matched the menu descriptions so when it arrived it met our expectations. The desserts (mousse tower and trio of creme brulee) were divine! “Happy Birthday” written in chocolate on the rim of my daughter’s dessert plate made it a special occasion. For a pleasant night out without being over-the-top expensive it was a perfect choice.

Iguacu isn’t an easy name to pronounce – but don’t let that put you off. Don’t let the flashy appearance of an expensive restaurant for the well to do in a just as flashy part of Auckland deter you either.

Brunch/Lunch between for my wife and I consisted of a mussel fritters and the big breakfast. The fritters were very nice and hard to utter a bad word about them. The big breakfast was, well big. Poached eggs were perfectly done, and I was even asked if I would like them runny or not – which was a bonus! They make a great coffee there too!

Unfortunately due to the humidity, salt isn’t easy to shake over your eggs without having large moistened clumps fall out. The bacon meanwhile was plentiful but a few pieces were a bit too crisp. But thats hardly something to complain about.

Overall the meal was very good. What impressed me more than anything was the toilets. Which is an odd thing to be impressed by, but they were clean and everything appeared to be stainless steel.

So recommendation this time around, is go there if just to use the facilities!
