Went here on Saturday night and loved it! THe food was great, very authentic. The naans are huge so listen to the wait staff when they say you wont need a whole naan each!
The menu has so much choice I couldn’t believe it too which is great if you are fussy, or in the mood for something specific.
We had onion bhajis to start and they are well worth the money. You get 4 big bhajis for $6 and they are indeed big and very tasty.
Everyone I was with loved their meals and said they would definitely return.
The only complaint I would say is that the restaurant is very small so when people come in to pick up or order takeaway, they squeeze between you and the person at the next table which gets annoying after 4 times of having to pull your chair in! And it is cold in winter when the door opens as the place is small so the cold fills the whole room!
Other than that we all loved it and would definitely return!

Great tasting food. tandoori chicken, butter chicken and cheese naan was excellent. We also had the vegetable biryani it was also very good. We had our food delivered to our motel room and accidentally left our credit card in the machine. They rang to let us know and returned it within 20 minutes…..thanks so much for your honesty and a great dinner!!

I’ve only visited this restaurant twice, and as much as I like to visit anywhere more often before proffering a review, I feel it is time. Dare I suggest I know Indian food and its many regional variations and especially its homecooked iterations where the REAL Indian food happens better than many.
I continue to despair at the extraordinarily limited as well as rich, creamy and sweetened Indian cuisine presented in NZ as canonical. Nothing could be farther from the truth for a cuisine which is as regionally varied and specialised as any nation on the planet. And yet as much as I acknowledge the timidity of kiwi diners, I salute restaurants which gently and incrementally stretch the palates they encounter. Indian Fendalton is not such a place, as much as I might recognise that this is exactly the way most want it. In this instance, this restaurant does just fine and if this all you want or know, so much the better.
Indian Fendalton as most anywhere offers all the favourite Anglicised Punjabi and New World Indian stock standards but in a cosy, pleasingly funky atmosphere with good service. However low my expectations yet wishing for more, I must but criticise their food for lacking a certain care, subtlety, loving attention to detail and most especially time when braising/stewing the cheap cuts of meat reasonably if ineffectively employed for their purpose.
If you want the stock standards of kiwi-ised Punjabi cuisine and this is your nearest eatery, then this restaurant will serve you well.

Fan-tastic!
OK, the chicken tikka entree was average, but the chicken jalfezi main was unbelievably good. This was just bags of flavour on top of even more flavour. And the main size was such that the entree was not needed (and I do tend to eat too much!!)
The restaurant is quite small, and the tables tightly packed, but not intrusive.
Wine is very reasonably priced, and in god-sized serves.
The staff are very polite and attentive.
Will I be back? Hell, YES.

First off, REEMA from the City Copper Chime is BACK, and she’s set up shop here (her usual chef will be back in Christchurch in a month or so). Now, we had a meal here tonight and it was great. Had the Chicken Bhuna and it was pretty darn good, partner had the Aloo Gobi and Jeera rice – top marks from both of us! Can’t comment on the hospitality though, because Reema always takes super special care of us! Can’t wait until they’re back on their feet fully

the worst restaurant i have ever been to. Pathetic/abusive staff, bland tasteless food.
the receptionist asked how the food was so i was honest and said it wasn’t very good. She wanted me to speak to the chef and i was happy to. As soon as i walked into the kitchen, chef starts abusing me.
the staff just stood there , including owner, and they didn’t say a word to the abusive chef.
i have never been so threatened and scared ever in my life
y pay money, get abused and eat disgusting food @ indian fendalton when there are other great restaurants in christchurch?
SHAME on you INDIAN FENDALTON for treating your valuable customers like dirt.
BEWARE

Unfortunatly we had a very poor meal. Butter chicken tasted and smelt like chicken in tomato soup, we were assured it had garlic and ginger in it, but what was going to make it spicy? Asked for medium hot and got soup! Kashmiri Naan was GOOD. Rest of the meal very poor. Will not be going there again and certianly will not be recomending it.

Best Indian in the city of Christchurch NZ. Added to this it is fantastic value. Highly recommended
