This was our first visit, and the highlight was undoubtedly the parmesan encrusted lamb as our mains. Outstanding! Generous servings and perfectly cooked. We’d asked about fish of the day when we booked in the afternoon. “it hasnt been decided” we were told. On arrival we were told “weve run out of fish of the day.” Curious… Even tho there is a gish shop a couple of doors away. Room for improvement: the cutlery is provided tighly wrapped in a small paper serviette. If you manage to unwrap yours without dropping them, you’ve done well. I didn’t. Then try to cover your lap with the serviette…The entree bread selection was a low point. While generous, the bread Had been toasted and buttered. Maybe we misread the menu, but we are used to fresh breads to dip into the oil, pesto, dip etc. We were not asked about wine. Not a good look: the folded newspaper stuck under a table leg to stop the wobble. With a few tweaks this eatery could easily be four star. I’ll be checking before I return….

Took my wife here as I had been there before. The pasta was well done this time and very tasty, the wedges were also super delicious but my wife’s eggs Benedict was really really disappointing. Eggs were not runny at all, the salmon was grilled with the skin, hollandaise sauce didn’t have any taste .. just the overall combination of that dish was horribly wrong.
Came here with my boyfriend for a nice Sunday brunch but was not impressed with my eggs benedict!
The outdoor courtyard seating was pleasant on a warm January day, however the eggs were on top of a very flat, hard muffin…which made it very hard to cut/eat.
Definitely have experienced better at cafes in Ponsonby. A little disappointed in this cafe, as it puts a dent on Mt Eden’s reputation.
Should probably stick to Circus Circus in future.

Went there for dinner on Friday night, was not busy as we didn’t book. The owner/manager is very friendly, the tables are very close to each other, long and narrow at the front. The portion is big compare to most of the cafe at the right price. Not bad for dine out on the weekend without bookings.

I met a friend for lunch there. I had the pasta of the day (white wine sauce with mushrooms) and it was good BUT I felt the pasta was over cooked (as it felt a bit too soft on the bite). The taste and flavor was well made and especially with the marinated(?) mushrooms.
Coffee was great and the service was pretty good too. I’d like for them to have a wider variety for vegetarian friendly meals, and a lunch set (e.g. filtered coffee + small salad side + main meal) so it’s easier on the wallet. Prices are just a little on the higher side.

We eat here a lot. The staff are friendly, the service is good and the food is consistently good!

Went for Saturday lunch with my partner. We ordered the Chicken burger which was great. The beef and egg burger however, was overcooked. And the chips were oversalted. The food could have been much better, it was simple food after all, and it was priced at $18!
The atmosphere was nice. Unfortunately the tables are so close together and we had a very noisy person right next to us.
I hope they make the food better for their sake, because we were wishing we had waited in the queue for Circus Circus instead!

I was shouted lunch here for my birthday in May 2011. The eggs benedict was fantastic as was the coffee.

Food was served barely warm and portion sizes were small for price paid (brunch). Half the table were served and had finished their meals before the rest were served with no apology.
On the other hand the coffee was very good and plenty of seating.

Interesting decor and very similar to one in Te Aroha. The food is excellent with more than enough on your plate, breakfasts are huge and good value for what you get. Their Coffee is to die for and one of the best places in Auckland.
Little small inside but the courtyard is great and makes for a great brunch on Saturday/Sunday.

Great food and service with lovely presentation and fairly priced. I would happily go back for seconds.

It would have to be one of the worst places i have been to. Not only is it expensive it has terrible service and the food is small and pretty average quality I have been to ironique three times and every time I have been staff have not been able to get my order right. it has a nice outdoor setting, and it would be a great place, if everytime i had been it hadn’t been so average!

A fascinating decor that always entertains the mind and adored by children. Love the cakes, muffins, coffee and the breakfast menu. Roomy inside and the court yard. Good choice of muffins, sandwiches and Paninis. The service is fast and very friendly

Ended up here when the place we had booked was just too noisy. Meals were well priced- hot pot for $20, portions were generous and the service good. Lovely courtyard at the back and another spacious room to accommodate more diners. This place is good enough to go back to as this is value for money and a nice atmosphere with tasty food.
