My wife and I came here for dinner a few weeks ago for dinner to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, followed by the spa baths. What a wonderful place tucked away in the little town of Te Aroha. The decor was interesting with its iron work and the atmosphere warm and inviting. My wife had hotpot and I fish of the day, both very tasty dishes, although a little too much salt in the beef hotpot, we polished off with an icecream trio, it was all an enjoyable evening. Service was prompt and efficient, the staff were cheerful and chatty. We will defiantly be back again.

Evening meal. The decor in the main is pretty plain. The iron work that is definately a WOW factor and a must see in the toilets should be carried out to the main area. The drab bare walls with ironwork lights let the front of house down.
Get rid of the blackboard – heavy and cumbersome to carry around to tables.Tables and chairs held the rustic theme but the chairs could do with some padding for night dining.
Menu was reasonable although a few items were over priced. The roast chicken did not live up to its promise. Waitress said it would come with baked Kumara – not on the plate and also dauphinoise potato but instead got two dried shredded potato cakes. It was a confusing dish – a roast with oriental plum sauce and a few fried noodle on the chicken. The chicken portion was small, dry on the outside but moist in the centre. For $29, I would keep well away from this disappointing dish. On the other hand the beef and mushroom hot pot was far cheaper and more generous in all departments. The meat was tender, the gravy delicious. Could not fault this dish. Came with a generous serve of mash potato and a side salad. Service was a bit of a let down. Prompt at the beginning, but too slow with a second offering of drinks, glasses had been empty 20 minutes and the meal took 35 minutes to get to us – a bit too long.

We live in Te Aroha, so have been here many times. Food is always really great, but we always find that you have to “chase” the staff for extras, ie: drinks, coffee etc…if you are having an evening meal. Also, asking for no salad dressing on your meal shouldn’t be met with “you’ll have to see the chef about that”….mmmm

Good little cafe, only been there for lunch and coffee. Good food collection that is home made and well presented and pleasant waiting staff but no over enthusiastic.
Fantastic art and ironwork and worth a visit for that alone..

Beautiful atmosphere inside Ironique as it has wood and iron everywhere – very tasteful. It seats a great many people, has an outside area and the food is lovely. Modern but not too modern. It’s great and the fact that it is always busy just goes to show how good it is.
