The Japanese food here is sublime.
All the raving accolades about their ‘fireball sushi’ got me here… so I met a friend for a lunch date yesterday.

WARNING: I got totally lost, and could not find the place for 5 minutes until I asked in the Chemist! I was walking up and down Albany Highway trying to work out how it could jump from number 227 to 231, with no sign of ’229′ or ‘Haru’ or ‘Japanese’ anything!
Turns out, you need to go right down the back of the paved walk-way, very near the library. So park around the back.

ANYWAY, back to the food… the Fireball Sushi exceeded expectations. It turns out it’s not called fireball because it’s spicy, it’s ‘fireball’ because it’s been a little bit ‘charred’ with a fireball of some sort. The flavour is immensely delicious.

Also had a big sashimi lunch box set with everything you could want – cooked beautifully. Tempura veges, 2 octopus ball, loads of fresh salmon & tuna sashimi, plus tasty little salads, and another piece of fireball sushi – yum!

Staff lady was friendly and fairly efficient.
Environment was simple and clean.

Highly recommend.
Only shortcoming was my inability to find the place to begin with. So, please get better signage!

What a great find!!! We were looking through the 2010 Auckland Entertainment Book and found a voucher for Haru and decided to give it a try… and now it would be one of my favourites!

The two staff members were so lovely and even taught us how to correctly hold chop sticks and made us their famous Salmon Fireball Sushi <>

We had gyozi and edamame beans for entree to share and their famous home made chicken teriyaki as the main. This came with rice and miso.

We will definately return and recommend this to everyone!
