To all of the staff at this establishment, the wait staff, managers and even chefs and kitchen hands behind the scenes, you are all amazing! My partner is not normally good with picking places to eat out so when he chose Jimmy Jacks I was hesitant but it was a truly wonderful experience. Even though it was very busy, every customer that walked through the door was always greeted and seated. The food was amazing, well worth waiting for. I can say I found my new favourite place to eat, I would definitely travel from Melbourne just to come back to this place. The apple pie is perfection and was the icing on the cake. So glad I stayed longer to eat it, I would have been missing out if I didnt. Finally to the manager, I told you I would give you 100 out of 5 if I could and I promised you I would leave this rating so here it is. Thank you for a truly great experience

We were in Paihia for the Easter holidays concluded and happened upon this restaurant. It looked inviting so our entire group of 12 decided to dine there. We received no help to obtain the tables. We ordered our meals at apprx. 8PM and our kids got served their meals after several reminders at 9PM! The adults received no meals. Me friend went to the check-out at 9:30PM to ask as to what was the status of our meals and he was informed they had not even begun to make the meals ordered for the adults as one of their gas burners was busted!!!! We cancelled our orders and paid for the drinks consumed. The kids meals were comped off by the restaurant manager, which was the least they could have done. I just felt if they had been honest and forthcoming much earlier on we could have had our meals elsewhere. At that point of time we were all very sleepy and the market was shutting down at 10:00PM. The adults had to rush into a Kebab place around the corner for a quick feed. Bad start to a very good holiday in Paihia. We will not visit this restaurant again and will not be recommending it to any of our friends.

Our meal tonight was undoubtedly the low point of our eating out experiences in the last 5 years. The Caesar Salad was drowned in dressing, so much so that the lettuce was limp. The seafood platter was deep, deep fried in what tasted like 6 week old oil – soggy everything. They assured me that they changed their oil every second night. Ha, ha!!!I have rated this one star, only because there is not a lower rating available.

We are always on the lookout for good ribs, but are often disappointed by the quality of the meat or the way they are cooked or sauced – but Jimmy Jack’s Rib Shack does it right! These ribs were tender, the sauce with thick and smokey without being too spicy, and the portions were a great value for the money. We shared the huge rib platter that comes with 2 full slabs and 2 orders of chips/wedges for $39.99, and that’s a great deal. And between us we couldn’t finish them. We only get to Paihia once a year for holidays, but as long as Jimmy’s is still open, we will be back every year!

Looked like a great venue when we walked past during our holiday so decided to eat there before heading out for NYE drinks. Firstly I have to say that our waitress made the experience really neat, she was friendly and helpful and able to have a laugh. We shared the seafood platter, it was standard and what you’d expect but very big and served with yummy sauces and dips. Thanks for a good experience a good place for our last meal of 2012. Naughty but yummy.

My partner and I had dinner @ Jimmy Jacks Rib Shack last night 21/10/2012 and it was awesome, I was so full that I could not eat my spare ribs.The staff were so friendly, and I have told so many people if they are ever in Paihia to go to this place and check it out, it was so worth the $$$$$$. You will see me again definitely. Thanks for the great meal…. The best in town….

My husband & I had the best dinner here tonight. The restaurant was lovely & warm & the atmosphere was great. Both our meals were cooked perfectly & so delicious!! (spare ribs & steak meal). Service was excellent, really friendly staff! We will most definitely be back again. Thanks for such a lovely dinner:)

We had a two day stopover in Paihia , so decided to try JJs as we had not been there before . We both had fish the first night , my wife had the calamari, which was cooked to perfection, and I had the seafood platter , for me a 10 out of 10.The service was excellent , attentive, friendly,and we were made to feel most welcome by the owner as he brought our mains , and drinks. Pays to know your customers , he said in passing .
Why not come back and try our ribs , he said as we paid the bill.
Guess what , we went back the next night and had a huge shared plate of ribs , AWSOME is our description, and the apple pie finished the evening off to a tee.

We called in for lunch on the weekend, we have often passed and never called in on our trips to Paihia, we will be going again. The ribs were really tasty and my partners Mussels were divine. They offer good specials, they had buy one get one free fish and chips we did not order them but they looked good. The waitress was really lovely and we got prompt friendly service.

Went to Jimmy Jacks with 2 friends on a mid week getaway, the menu drew us in, but our waiter made the experience one we would remember! the portions were generous without being too much, cooked to perfection (steaks and ribs) and full of flavor. overall this is of better quality then majority of places i have frequented (places who claim excellence i might add), and service was fantastic, i find people are too quick to slam service but don’t give credit when its due… it was definitely deserved in our case..

Enjoyed the kiwi Burger, fellow traveller enjoyed the steak. The service was marked down on two counts. The entree arrived with the Mains. At the end if the meal we received the bill, but we were still finishing our drinks. While we were drinking up and chatting, a waitresses repeatedly harassed us several times if we were ready to settle the bill. When my fellow traveller was ready to pay, she was then told that she would have to go and bar at the bar. While she was paying the same waitresses who had been harassing us to pay came back and announced she was wetting the table and promptly cleaned it and walked off.

Being only 10.00PM we felt pushed out and hurried to leave as the staff were in a hurry to go home. It ruined a nice and pleasant meal. Would not be returning there in a hurry.

Pretty crap food and over priced. Supposedly a different “two for one” deal every night, but seemed everynight we stayed in Paihia it was fish and chips deals. Food, atmosphere and service – really average, doubt we’ll be back. Once was enough.

Jimmy Jacks is an awesome place to eat. The food is just outstanding, and the service is great. The ribs, the seafood platter and the apple pie are just divine. Finger lickin’ good!! We come here every time we’re in Paihia. Best food in town!
