I have never dined in here as its usually chaos.
But the sushi and the chicken karaage are me and my partners favourite takeaways.

Big fan of ordering over the phone and taking away, but as I said whenever ive been in to pick up its a mad house.

Went to Jizo Cafe to have a nice meal with my wife as we often do. But upon arrival we found it was busy and we were asked to wait which is fair enough. After waiting for a while another group of 3 came in and an Asian Lady (who looked like the manager) approached them and seated them first. We talked to her and asked why we were not seated first. She said that we had to wait for the smallest table to clear because there were only the two of us, also it was very hard to understand her due to poor English. After another 10 minutes we were finally seated. The food was excellent but this kind of service is appalling.

Terrible customer service, put us off the food.

Went to Jizo tonight with my girlfriend,

The place was busy and after finding a table my girlfriend went up to the counter to order, when trying to order the food the lady behind the counter was having difficulty taking the order and hearing what we wanted to order, she started becoming agitated and yelling at my girlfriend over the counter in a rude and aggressive manner.

After my girlfriend came back to the table we decided to leave as we had been put off the place and will not be back, may be just a case of one staff member being rude but either way a terrible experience.

This is my favourite restaurant. The teriyaki salmon sushi is devine. Nice setting, good service. A bit hard to park but worth the walk.

Excellent little Japanese restaurant. The tereyaki tuna sushi are devine. Shame they stopped doing tempura thou.The miso is great too.

Wide variety, value for money, top service. Have been a regular for nearly ten years and the quality and standard has never changed.

This restaurant is fabulous. It has a wide range of meals; sushi, sashimi, teriyaki, udon, tempura the works, all available with fish, meat or tofu, and always with vegetables or a special salad. The service is spectacular, and the prices are more than reasonable.

In my opinion, its most noteworthy aspect is its year-round supply of A-grade tuna sashimi – the price is the same all year-round, and it is always exquisitely prepared. Another favourite dish of mine is the seaweed and shrimp salad. It has a range of different fresh and delicious seaweeds, juicy shrimp, cucumber, lettuce, carrot, capsicum on occasion, and two dressings – and all for less than $9.

Jizo also has a range of Japanese and New Zealand beers, sake by the bottle or the carafe, and a great atmosphere and interior design.

I recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Dunedin as well as locals, and frequent it myself regularly – always good!
