- cudos for offering the Yazoom vouchers.
BAD POINTS:

OVERALL:
A good, little local Indian. Great people and good food at the right price. Would I come back here ? – absolutely.

I have to disagree most strongly with all the other reviews for Kabana, the most recent of which is nearly two years old. Perhaps the place has had a change of management. I struggle to find nice things to say about this restaurant.
The meal started off badly when I asked the ditzy waitress if they offered pakoras, which were not on the menu. She didn’t know what they were. She also didn’t know what I wanted when I ordered chai, even though it was on the menu.
Being vegetarian, we didn’t expect a large menu, but the korma was dreadful. The “vegetables” were corn, peas and carrots, obviously just removed from a frozen plastic bag like you can purchase at New World. There was not a hint of cashew in the sauce. In fact, there was not a hint of Indian spices in anything.
The second dish, a biryani, was equally uninteresting, with more frozen vegetables and no Indian spices.
If you think that traditional New Zealand cuisine is spicy and exciting, you may find this place interesting. If you like authentic Indian food, try someplace else.

A great little indian eating house. Cheap and cheerful! A+

I have eaten here dining in and takeaway many times in the last 3 years and the food is consistently delicious and the prices are great, I have always found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. It’s not flashy but still pleasent and a nice place to dine.

One of the better indian places to eat.. service is ok/good, small intimate place, not too flashy but pleasent, about what you’d expect for the price.. I’ve eaten there several times and the food has been top notch, certain a lot better than most

This place is one of the worst place I have ever eaten in. I went there with my indian friends and they told me that those foods that are served there are not indian foods and lack of indian flavours.
The attitude of the waiting staff was not very pleasant and was really hard to get any new orders since the staff’s attention was not on the customers.
THis day was not a very busy day, so I would expect more value, quality and attention in the future.

They always have really tasty Indian food.
It’s an intimate, quiet restaurant – a good place to take someone when conversation is important – because it’s all carpeted with lots of big curtains to absorb the noise – so you can easily hear the conversation with your dinner date. The restaurant doesn’t feel overbearing with noise of clinking dishes or other people’s loud conversations! The restaurant can feel quite private if it’s not too busy.
My only complaint is that it’s so dark. I wish, after all these years, that they’d put some down-lights in to illuminate the dark corners where some tables are!
