Very disappointing breakfast. Lovely location, alright service but food was terrible. Warmed up cheap thinly sliced ham is not bacon! Soggy pale coloured bread is not french toast! We visited on a very busy day but this is no excuse to serve poorly put together food. Coffee was hot and good

Well the reviews are somewhat surprising really. I stopped here this evening whilst out for a long cycle. The waitress was very friendly, and so was the chef, who brought out my food. despite me looking less than tidy and a bit haggard.
The pricing was reasonable and the overall experience was very good. I sat and watched the sunset looking at Rangitoto eating very tasty and reasonably priced food. Also they have a great open kitchen with lots to watch.
So, give it a look in it’s nice.
Maybe, if people were polite to people working in establishments and didn’t have ridiculously high and ponsy expectations they may chill out a bit and enjoy places more….just an opinion…

Great Brunch had there – the service was good, food well prepared and presented and good coffee

The guys who run it are Turkish I think and nothing is a problem and always a little theatrical as they rip into each other , laughing while they do so.

They were attentive with the small children we took ( always a barometer for us as to whether we go back )

We would happily spend our money there again

I really don’t understand the negative reviews here for Kahve?! I’ve visited several times since arriving in Auckland 8 months ago and the service and food has been consistently excellent. First time I was served poached eggs almost the size of fluffy white tennis balls with deep orange yolks, perfect – best eggs benedict you will ever find. Excellent coffee and vista and they do accept credit card/eftpos unlike the previous reviewers suggested.

I have never written a review of a restaurant before, but my service here moved me to do so. If you like rude service and the most expensive coffee in Auckland, this is the restaurant for you. The manager was totally rude to us, the coffee was fine, but nothing special. Really worth going to another cafe in St Heliers

Whilst on holiday in NZ went to the restaurant in mid November 2011 and had a reasonable meal. On receiving the bill I could clearly read what we had but the prices were faded. On returning home UK looked again at the prices with a mag glass and saw that we were charged $50 for a glass of wine that should have been $10 my fault I know but be warned and take a good look at your bill if you intend to eat there I doubt if i will again.

I was in Auckland for the semis and the final of the RWC. We stayed with friends in Ellerslie. They took us to St Helliers for a late lunch at Kahve…..What a dream!!!! The fish cakes were to die for. The calamari was tender, delicious, altogether yummy. The wine was the best Pinot Gris I have ever tasted.
The service was faultless. The atmosphere was lively without being loud. The owner and manager welcoming and charming. It was…..as if I cared after such splendid fare……great value for money.
I had to go back the week after and do it all over again. And was impressed again.
I have recomended you to all my friends and will be returning again. Thankyou

I had a similar experience to two others. rude waitress, slow service. very embarrassing seeing I had taken a client there. When we had just finished our lunch, the waitress asked if we want to order anything else otherwise they need the table. I ahe never heard of such rudeness. We were debating desert or coffee, but I was embarrassed and my client was embarrassed for me so we left and went a few doors along for our desert and coffee. Will NEVER return.

Lovely view – and that’s about it. Only visit if I have a visitor from out of town that wants to experience the water front at St Heliers. Otherwise, the cafes at the airport do a better job.

Just been there last weekend. Unfortunately nothing much has changed.

Place was expensive for the food served and the service was terrible. The head waiter was rude/arrogant, and the food was mediocre at best. Our friends had enquired about the pancakes with fruit, asking what fruit was served. When the food arrived, the pancakes did not come with the fruit that was detailed. When enquired about this, there was no explanation and just that there simply was none of that fruit so you’re just not getting it. Coffee was also average, milk was not frothed or poured well. Plates and cups were dirty. This place only survives on its location, not food or service. Be warned, this place does not accept eftpos and will not split bills. I will definitely not be returning or be recommending this place. There are so many other places, why spend your hard earned cash here?

I don’t know what the previous reviewer was upset about.
I took a group of ten of my employees here for brunch today and we could not have been happier. The service was prompt and polite and the food satisfied all in its quantity and quality. I was able to pay by credit card and would happily recommend to friends and colleagues.

The location and the views are great. Other than that the place is terrible. The worst part is the staff. They are the most unfriendly….verging on angry….group of restaurant employees I have ever come across. Even the owner, who is there quite a bit, acts as though he is annoyed by his patrons. They only take cash..no eftpos or credit cards. Went with some friends this morning and could not believe how rude the waitress was. She just didn’t care at all…it was as if the customers were there simply to aggravate her. She was so rude it was almost funny! We sat for 15-20 min. before she took our order. When the food arrived she just plopped it down on the table and strutted off. Never came back to ask how it was or refill our water glasses..which we really wanted. The attitude of the staff kills this place. Food is mediocre at best. Have been there several times and it’s always the same. Today will be the last day I ever step foot in the place! Kahve would be closed for sure if it was not for the attractive location.

Had a great night. The menu gives a great variety. Food was lovely, timely and served with humour. A shared antipasto was different to the average, which we enjoyed nothing like a change. Mains were well presented and cooked beautifully. Desert was devine if a little large. Great place will be going back.

Food was a disgrace. Pork belly was overcooked and tough as leather. Unable to eat. Cant believe the chef would even think to serve it to a customer. Consistently bad upon a return visit.

We went for breakfast. The food was nice, the eggs were fresh and the coffee was tasty. I thought the service was good until my wife told me that as soon as I got up to pay a waiter went over to the table and asked them to get up and leave so he could clean it for the next customers… After I had paid I found my family waiting outside!!! That ruined it for me. At least wait until we have paid and let us walk out on our own. It would have gotten 4+ otherwise.

Unbelievably bad! Superb view if you can see it through the dirty plastic awning. Flat tonic water with my g & t. Prime eye fillet on the menu turned up on my plate as tough as old leather Scotch fillet covered in a disgusting sauce over watery mash. Visually – cat’s vomit! At least they had the good grace not to charge for such a dreadful meal. Oh, and what restaurant in this day and age doesn’t have Eftpos?

Don’t come here for the service – the man can be a grinch – well aware of it. But ignore the a**ehole, feel sorry for the poor girls that work under him, revel in your surroundings…..devour the best eggs benedict in Auckland….the creamy mushrooms with brie are delectable also…..go the prawns for lunch – and a brilliant Caesar Salad. They do need to work on their staff though…..He is only there in the middle of the day, so go early…… Trust me, it’s the best in St heliers. Don’t bother with La Vista.

I take my children to Kahve frequently as I particularly like the friendly, accommodating staff.

Maybe if I brought my children to this restaurant eating food purchased elsewhere I would receive a different experience. However, unlike other comments here, I wouldn’t dream of treating a someone’s restaurant like a Mall Foodhall!!!

Huge food – size isn’t everything!

Great location on a sunny day to watch people go past, just don’t look down you’ll notice the cleaners haven’t been in in a while.

Needs new owners.

Popped for a quick coffee before the Weetbix triathlon and were treated very rudely by the owner as my kids were eating muffins. I would never return and certainly will be letting everyone I know what a rude, mean and grinch-like man this guy was. Apparently this is not a place for just coffee. He should be ashamed of himself

This is the best place in St. Heliers by far.
Casual dining, good service, the food is fantastic with large serving sizes and at very reasonable prices.
Their Eggs Benedict are the best in Auckland.
