Being a vegan its very hard for me to found right food i ordered veg. sushi from Kanpai, i don’t believe veg sushi can be that much tasty. Still in my mouth I can feel test of it. I will recommend this restaurant to my entire Vegetarian and vegan friend.

Yes, I know its expensive compare to sushi you can buy from mall or sushi shop BUT I must says its worth it, they I had to pay another couple of dollars on what I eat today I will happy spend that.

I recommend people should try their Sushi rang (and it’s my guarantee you want regret it).

Keep it up Kanapai………..:)

I do not recommend this restaurant. My friends and I went to this restaurant and were bitterly disappointed. Our entrees arrived one at time with a five minute interval between each dish. When the mains arrived it was much the same, three meals were served leaving the other three of us waiting for another twenty minutes when we asked the waiter where they were he said they were being made in a different section of the kitchen and would therefore come out when the chef was ready. Apart of being a good restaurant is making sure the dishes come out at the same time. Its a pity about the restaurant as the viaduct is an amazing place to dine at night.

My fiance and I love Japanese food, but we both agree that this is by far the worst Japanese restaurant we’ve been to- EVER! After waiting over an hour for our food we were greatly disappointed when it finally arrived. We both ordered a don bowl, vegetarian and chicken. What we were served was a few frozen Watties veges, floating in sauce beside a scoop of stale rice! The chicken dish came with merely 5 tiny pieces of chicken, and the vegetarian dish came with a child-sized handful of cubed carrots, peas and potatoes. We left disappointed, hungry and mad that we paid a high price for low quality. Not to forget the poor service, and minimal regard for customer satisfaction. To top off the evening, we visited the restaurant on a holiday and were stucking paying an additional 15% surcharge! We would have been better off eating at subway! Do not eat at this restaurant, there are much better options at the Asian foodcourts in the city.

This is the worst Japanese restaurant I have ever eaten at. You couldn’t pay me to go back to this place. Despite the fact that they had only a few other customers we had to wait nearly an hour and a half before any of our food came out – when the first item turned up – gyozas – they were stone cold and the pastry was raw – unfortunately I did not realise this until I had eaten one as the lighting is so poor I couldn’t see my food very well. Everything else was greasy and tasted foul. The restaurants on the Viaduct should be a showcase for the best of NZ food. Unfortunately Kanpai is one of many on the viaduct serving up food that we should be well and truly ashamed of – what a waste of a totally lovely setting.

I went to Kanpai with eight of my other girlfriends to celebrate one of their 21st birthday, and was expecting a good night, but it turned out to be a terrible decision to eat at Kanpai. We booked our reservation for nine, and got there, and the waitertook our menu, everything was fine up to that point. But as all of us were really hungry and really wanted dinner, it was proven to be the worst restarunt I’ve ever been to, it took close to one and a half hour for our food to be served to us, and what was discusting was that about 30-40 minutes of waiting for our food and serveral questions about when the food was goin to be ready the waiter then comes and say hi guys it’s goin to be about another 20min and maybe you guys should go to another restaruant!!! overall the service was very poor and the manager offered no meaning apologies beside using the excuse of being busy which was a shoocker as it was only a Wednesday, I can’t imagine what the service would be like during busy days. I don’t think any one of s would ever go back to Kanpai Japanese Cuisine :(
