Recreation @ Karori Park overlooks one of Wellington’s premier parks and recreation grounds. You’ll find us next to the children’s playground on Karori Park. We share a building with the Karori Cricket Club and Karori Waterside Football clubs.

Karori Park Cafe serve Revive coffee and expect that every cup should be excellent.

Our food is made on the premises chef. We have a range of counter food including old favourites and gluten, egg and diary free dishes. We change the counter food continually so that our regulars don’t get bored.

A $10 brunch menu is offered on 7 days a week and a more extensive brunch menu Wed – Sundays.

The cafe overlooks the park and has plenty of room inside and out for groups and children. Kids can play with the toys provided or remain within view on the park. A playground next door is very popular.

Large, clean cafe with friendly staff. Sat outside on a beautiful sunny day. The problem was the price. I ordered the potato frittata with salmon, sour cream and capers and for $15 I was expecting more than a small slice. Extremely over priced in my opinion. My friend’s omelette for $15 was also rather small and the tablespoon of salad for which they charged an extra $3 was criminal.

Have been going to this cafe for quite a while and have really seen a huge improvement from the very first time they opened to what they have now become, the fantastic menu options are affordable and packed in quality/quantity. I have gotten to know the staff and they are absolutely awesome and friendly. The coffee is always prompt and divine. i love how quick the staff to correct any misunderstandings should there be any. Relaxed atmosphere and environment A+++ i would recommend giving this place a try or a 2ND chance if you have had any problems.

I visited Recreation @ Karori Park whilst watching football, I was met warmly from the cold and the young lady behind the counter was quick to engage in conversation of a pleasant manner, which I find very welcoming, and my coffee was made swiftly and it was delightful!

First time I went I had the MOST diving carrot muffin with cream cheese icing, and a pretty good mocha. The next weekend I was carving a muffin so popped down… what a mistake! The two young girls behind the counter were so unfriendly and rude, more interested in chatting to each other than paying attention to customers. And worst of all, there were no carrot muffins :( So I had a decidedly below average caramel slice and latte- quite possibly the worst latte I have ever had bar the automatic machine coffee from diaries!

Just a little word of advice- I get that ‘barristas’ are generally busy making coffee but when you are one of three people in a restaurant, they are obviously NOT run off their feet and I’m pretty sure can make an effort to at least greet you when you walk up to the counter rather than look at you and suddenly get awfully interested in stirring the coffee in front of them. Which turned out to be for the other girl behind the counter and not even a customer!!

I really like Recreation at Karori Park. I go there every day for coffee, and think they have something really special going on. The Staff are friendly and always keen for a yarn, the location is great and the new menu is awesome value. I also appreciate their use of Green Products, and believe more cafes should do the same.

Every time I have been here the service has been shocking, staff always look miserable. The red headed lady is always saying really inappropriate things, for example last week I heard her say “these taste really good considering they have been in the freezer for over a week”. Coffee is also awful. Will not be going back, its a shame as the location is fantastic if you are a Mum. Hopefully somebody new takes over soon!

Recreation Cafe serves great coffee and food.

They are active community and environment supporters, providing free coffee for the local river restoration group.

Yay for South and West Karori’s family friendly, enviro friendly cafe!

Things looked hopeful when the old karori park cafe was taken over by new management and renamed Recreation Cafe….whilst the food and coffee has vastly improved, sadly the reliability of actually finding them open hasn’t. ALWAYS call first as they don’t stick to their advertised hours and will be randmonly shut for days just like the previous management.

I am sorry you did not find us open. I suspect that you might have read the opening hours for Karori Park Cafe and thought that recreation @ Karori Park was open those hours. I have taken over the business account for this cafe and corrected the opening hours,…    More »
